nice looking plane. Flies amazing. I have a Alloy DPS Series 68mm EDF Unit With 3580kv Motor 1000w in my viggen. Cant wait to try it in this plane.

I had to do surgery and replace my fan (busted it internally on day-2), so I replaced it with the DrMadThrust 70mm fan that STU gave me at FFW..... it just went 114.5mph!!! :D

Andres is smart cookie, and he`s only in high school. My hope is he creates a line of his own original design foam-built planes.

Nice one Ben. Looks like you're using a much more powerful EDF unit then they were using on Flight Test. Much better performance.

Good flying.. Nice work on the X-29.. It looks so sweet in the air.. I've seen some guy's put whistles from Nerf Screamer balls in the trust tubes of EDFs.. Sounds great..

Thanks for the review and testing Ben. My winter project is to build an X-29 and your F4! I like your hand launching technique. You should do a little video tutorial on it, I know I would appreciate it. I've always done wing swing launches but it's not as practical with larger models or some styles.

Thanks, I'm still working on getting the F-4 plans out. Thanks for your patience! I attribute my hand launching to the fact that I started RC in slope-soaring, where EVERYTHING is hand-launched. You're not the first to suggest a video about hand launching...it's on my list! :)

I think I'm going to try to make a micro X-29 with a Wltoys F949 or F959 brick (it's identical to the v911 but the F959 uses 2s batteries). :) Loved that plane, but I never flew anything... So I'm going to start small. :) (My first one is going to be a Mirage III!)

Great video Ben Harber, quick question. Can you put a link or some way to be able to get the plans to build that round nozzle? Thanks
@TheHarberHangar
@TheHarberHangar 7 жыл бұрын
It's a really simple rolled-cone nozzle, not sure it's worth it's own plans, but I'm making a list of comment-requests and I'll start making some (hopefully) short explanation videos answering your questions. I'll do my best, stay tuned!

Just got done building one and I was wondering if you can tell me the throes.. how much throw do I put on the ailerons. And how much throws do I put on the elevator. And also how much expo. Thank you for your time.
@TheHarberHangar
@TheHarberHangar 4 жыл бұрын
I don't remember off-hand, but I used whatever is recommended on the plans. :D I like more expo than most people, around 50 usually, but I would suggest starting with 30 and see how that feels.

Ben, EDF's are new to me. The FT store calls for a 64 to 70mm EDF. I don't know where to even start looking for one of these. Any recommendations/options?

Flite Test is in the process of getting an EDF power pack for their store, but in the meantime here are a few links to fans that will work for their X-29: Motion RC 64mm: www.motionrc.com/collections/edf-power-systems/products/freewing-64mm-12-blade-edf-4s-power-system-w-2836-3300kv-motor Motion RC 70mm: www.motionrc.com/collections/edf-power-systems/products/freewing-70mm-12-blade-edf-4s-power-system-w-2849-2850kv FMS 70mm: www.banggood.com/FMS-70mm-12-Blades-Ducted-Fan-EDF-With-2845-KV2750-Motor-For-RC-Airplane-p-1023640.html FMS 64mm: www.banggood.com/FMS-64mm-4S-3S-11-Blades-EDF-Unit-With-KV3150-KV3900-Brushless-Motor-p-1101637.html You can also use any of the similar-sized 6-blade fans, but I prefer the sound of the 10 or 12-blade fans.

So what would you recommend to make the X-29 fast?
@TheHarberHangar
@TheHarberHangar 7 жыл бұрын
I prefer the 12-blade 70mm (MotionRC or FMS, they're nearly identical). But for all-out speed, you might get better performance with a 6-blade like this one: www.motionrc.com/collections/edf-power-systems/products/freewing-70mm-edf-4s-power-system-w-2839-3000kv-motor The 6-blade will sound more like a hair-dryer though, just FYI. ;)

Suh-weeet! Do you have a gyro on the roll axis? it sure looks like it. Short spans are usually so squirrly. I'm a total wonk junkie for anything with forward sweep.
@TheHarberHangar
@TheHarberHangar 7 жыл бұрын
bill sheppard Nope, no gyros at all. I just fly on MUCH lower rates than Andres. :D Besides that though; once trimmed, it is very stable.
