Absolutely love your work. You inspired me to make dragon eggs and so far I've made 7 eggs and still surprise myself each time I finish it because it looks nice. Last one I made I had like that pearl ex pigment (blue) color or whatever it's called, instead of transparent and then hollowed the inside from the bottom to make it into a night lamp. the white light that went through became a pleasant slightly dim blue color. Currently working on a stand for it to hide the wire. So thank you for inspiring me and keep up the good work

Microwave safe doesn't mean it can handle heat, it refers to the item resisting heating up when bombarded with microwaves. In the future, something that is dishwasher safe would be a better bet. Just a thought....
@amatayboutte134
@amatayboutte134 3 жыл бұрын
Chemical engineer here. Even if a material is microwave safe, it still may not resist heat from the food thats being heated. This would cause it to leach chemicals into your food, so the material has to also be non toxic and chemically harmless to consume in the quantity it leaches for it to be “microwave safe.” Still not a failsafe though, there are growing concerns about BPA leaching from baby bottles for example. The resin heating up most likely created heat transfer to the plastic container, causing the container to leach chemicals into the resin. These levels can become toxic depending on the type of plastic, some can leach toxins at as low as 120°C. Not a whole lot of research on it, but there’s a possibility of long term health issues from just breathing in the toxins. There are a lot of variables in the process, but no matter the plastic used make sure it’s located in a well ventilated area ☺️

Beautiful egg! I love how you painted the burl. Hello, from my lathe in Texas, USA! My favorite things to turn are Dragon Eggs! When you were worried about the resin getting too hot and having a disaster, I kept trying to yell through the screen to reassure you, "Nahhh, it'll be FIIIIINE!" LOL I use a quick cure resin like yours and as long as I do it in a cooler area, I haven't had too much of a problem. When I started, I was in the garage in the Texas heat, and I had a few tiny explosions till I figured it out. I have a GIANT pinecone I'm about to cast in resin for an egg that I'm a tiny bit nervous about, however. LOL Off to binge watch the rest of your videos!
