Benteng Portugis adalah salah satu objek wisata andalan di Jepara. Benteng Portugis yang terletak di Desa Banyumanis Kecamatan Donorojo atau 45 km di sebelah timur laut Kota Jepara. Untuk mencapainya tersedia sarana jalan aspal berbatu dan hanya dapat dicapai menggunakan kendaraan pribadi dikarenakan tidak ada rute transportasi umum ke situs sejarah ini.
Dilihat dari sisi geografis benteng ini tampak sangat strategis untuk kepentingan militer khususnya zaman dahulu yang kemampuan tembakan meriamnya terbatas 2 s/d 3 km saja. Benteng ini dibangun di atas sebuah bukit batu di pinggir laut dan persis di depannya terhampar Pulau mondoliko, sehingga praktis selat yang ada di depan benteng ini berada di bawah kendali Meriam Benteng sehingga akan berpengaruh pada pelayaran kapal dari Jepara ke Indonesia bagian timur atau sebaliknya.
The Portuguese Fort is one of the main tourist attractions in Jepara. The Portuguese fort is located in Banyumanis Village, Donorojo District or 45 km northeast of Jepara City. To get there, there is a rocky asphalt road and can only be reached using private vehicles because there are no public transportation routes to this historical site.
Judging from the geographical side, this fort appears to be very strategic for military purposes, especially in ancient times, where the firing capacity of cannons was limited to 2 to 3 km. This fort was built on a rocky hill on the edge of the sea and right in front of it lies Mondoliko Island, so practically the strait in front of this fort is under the control of Meriam Benteng so it will affect ship shipping from Jepara to eastern Indonesia or vice versa.
