Beautiful motor that is, Alan. I'll let you into an old mechanic's trick with changing anything linked to an anti-rollbar. If you jack up both sides of the vehicle so both wheels are off the floor, 80% of the time, it takes all the stress off it and makes the job much easier..... and now you're going to tell me that's exactly what you did. I've seen people jack one side up, smack the ball-joint with a hammer and then they spend the rest of the day, trying to put the new one in.

Does it only work for old mechanics Tony ??
@Vortecks11 ай бұрын
@@calderdale6795 Generally, yes. New mechanics only see pictures and diagrams on a tablet with full instructions on how to do things. Plus which, the car is on a lift with all the wheels off the floor. Drop it down on the floor and they wouldn't have a clue.

Well, "a good swipe with a decent hammer" could do wonders! (quite late) Happy New Year to you and yours!

😱 Wow, you are a very brave man to want to work on your Bentley Arnage. As the owner of the rarer sister model, the Silver Seraph. I myself myself leave everything to the specialist Rolls_Royce - Bentley dealership. Yes , at an annual massive expense !!...

Mechanically it’s just another old car Alan. The only difference is the ridiculous price of parts. In your case you have a stock normally aspirated beemer engine which can use cheap beemer engine parts . Your specialist probably won’t tell you that ? Mine has a Cosworth modified unit so most parts aren’t standard sadly . A good example is the starter motor……modded one ( nearside fitting ) four times the cost of a standard beemer part.

@@calderdale6795 👍 Thanks, I would be very interested to see you make more videos of your Arnage in the future 🔮........

Good info; I'm preparing to do this job on my 2005 Arnage, debating just replacing the boots if possible, but will probably need to replace the whole link. Did you use factory parts, or did you find an alternative?
@calderdale67956 ай бұрын
I used so called “Prestige” parts from Introcar in the UK. I carefully compared the new and old drop links and could see no difference. Still expensive though. If you find suitable boots let me know please.

@@calderdale6795 Thanks, yes, I have looked at Introcar and Flying Spares, my "usual suspects" for parts, but they are still painfully expensive! I found some on Ebay for a better price, but made in China. Will likely end up with the Introcar parts eventually. Thanks for the reply!
