They do have a strange beauty to them - the aerial shots suggest such a barren landscape at he time, whereas now all you see is greenery and trees.

Thank you again for another really informative/excellent video. Crying shame to see the lost canals that can never be brought back to life again though

The problem with so many is that they depended on the industry they served for their continued existence. Not just a reason for boat movement but in many cases the water supply relied on water pumped from the mines, and then the abandoned mines settles]d, taking the canals down with them. I am quite amazed that we have retained as much as we have - but am in a bit of a mission to gather the images of what has been lost to complete the story.

Thank you for sharing these images with us. The only thing that is missing is the pong of industry!

Thank you - a very interesting compilation. I was struck by how rural some of the sections were - in common with many other bits of the BCN of course. I had assumed the whole stretch would have been built up many years ago.

REALLY enjoyed that. I went past the junction at the western end in 1969 and looked down. As I remember i could see quite a few locks - no real clue that it was disused though. I cannot remember much more other than when i went past there at odd times in the next 30 years, there was less and less to see. Someone below mentions the 'pong' of industry - I can recall a particular burnt smell close to the north end of Netherton Tunnel after Dudley Port Jct. Those early days for me consisted of hiring a Bird boat from Ernie Thomas - he got pretty annoyed at me crawling all over the BCN. He had a lovely old engineer ( name?) who always came out to wherever I was. I think his name was Fred.

Its good to be able to stitch the old images together and get a feel for what used to exist. Glad it brought back some good memories.

I do enjoy your taste in music alongside these wonderful journeys back in time. Lovely stuff!

The music is in some ways the tricky bit. The KZbin police can sniff out unauthorised use of copyright material so I use the library of free music within KZbin. All except for the opening bars which I get away with because they are less than 10 seconds long.

Very interesting, the pics certainly bring it to life again. Very impressive shed by the way, I'm very envious!

Where I have enough images it is something I am planning to do - the Toll End comes to mind.

Sad to see that littering is endemic in the splendid pictures. It's almost de rigueur

Its is so commonplace I hardly notice it - a bit like the grafitti.
