Is there a reason why the "before" video shows no movement in BOTH intake and exhaust cam angles. Where as your "after" video shows both cam angles moving. If one is faulty, does it default and stop the other one from moving too?

I have an e87 1 series BMW with a half yellow engine warnig, codes 2a67 and 2a6B I know it it something related to the valvetronic. Do you happen to know if it is the valvetronic sensor or if it is the valvetronic motor, or something else? I hope it is not the sensor that I have to replace ecause it costs a lot. Thanks

I have a 2003 bmw e46 sedan..when i drive it for extended time, especially on hot days-(summer time) shut the car off for at lease 5mins then try2 start it back up again. it wont start! the temp needle jumps into the red. as if the car was overheating, it locks-up, nd wont start un-till the engine cool's off again, the needle never goes into the red zone while im driving thought, only when i stop and then shut the car off ive been struggling with this problem for 2yrs now with this car

would both the exhaust & intake sensor failing cause it to stall & not restart? One or both?

Yes
@martinsworld867811 жыл бұрын
That sounds more like a problem related to the thermostat and cooling system. I have a feeling you will get Fault code 10 and 123, 10 being: Coolant Temperature sensor, and 123 being: Characteristic Map Cooling - faulty thermostat, or no / incorrect activation by the ECU. Go to a licensed BMW workshop, or a BMW workshop and have your car diagnosed.

I'm having troubles removing the VANOS solenoid to get to the intake camshaft position sensor. It seems pretty stuck. I sprayed it down with some Bolt Off, but had no luck. I'm using an adjustable wrench. Any suggestions?

Hey, can you tell me if it's safe buy an OEM CPS sensor (Febi, Delphi etc) ? I'm about to buy a new one, very low price (30€), but I saw some people saying it was better to buy it from BMW because they sell computer-balanced sensor specifically for their car. I dunno what to do anymore :/
@BentleyPublishers9 жыл бұрын
Stephane T. Hello, My personal advice would be to purchase the OEM sensor from the dealer. It is more expensive, but the aftermarket sensors can be hit or miss and have been problematic lately. The OEM brands often use different countries and factories for the aftermarket. Good luck. Let us know if you have luck with the aftermarket OEM sensor if you go that route. I have not heard of the computer-balanced concept, but may have some merit.

What if I am getting 0V in the sensor reference signal? is the 5V supply an ecu supplied voltage ?. I changed the sensor with a new one, but keep getting the same fault code returned 2a63. Seems to me the sensor is never getting the 5V signal it needs to work with. Doe anyone have a pin-out of the ecu as this is clearly not a cam sensor fault.

Hey...i have a big problem with my 2004, x5, 3.0 engine. The problem started a few months ago and is driving me crazy. I start the car now...run it for...10 minutes or 5 hours, i stop the engine. Try to start it after 30 minutes around, the car turns and turns until i push the gas pedal. It starts and it feels like it's not enough fuel or too much fuel. Do you think it might be from this intake camshaft? I changed : Camshaft exhaust, crankshaft, fuel filter, sparks, clean idle control, clean throtle body, clean auxiliar air pump...new air filter...i have no ideea what's wrong with it.. :( Please, any ideea?

draqushoru Hello, Hard to know what could be wrong without doing some diagnostics. Check carefully all connectors. Look at the front vibration damper. Make sure the rubber is not loose on the hub. Next you should connect a scan tool and see what the live data looks like when the engine is running. A BMW service professional can use a scan tool to look at the live data and determine what numbers are out of range. I'd recommend a good independent based on the age of your X5. Could be a mass air flow sensor, a temp sensor, a cam sensor, or other things. Sorry I can't be of more help, but arm chair diagnosis from here. Connect a scan tool and go from there. Assuming the check engine light is on, so there should be some fault codes stored. good luck and let me know what you find. -Charlie B

BentleyPublishers Thank you for your answer. I have a BMW scanner and a live data program. Nothing, everything looks good, that's strange. No engine light on... Nothing! As soon as the car starts drives like new. I just used FCP EURO for some parts now. Waiting on the camshaft sensor, the one that's up because the other one it's changed already and got the temperature sensor too, the one that sits in the block engine. Hope one of them is the problem. To be continued...
