As a fellow ADHD haver, might I recommend raising the playback speed on videos. 10 minutes isn’t a lot, but it’s enough time for me to lose my focus a few times. If you turn up the speed to even just 1.25x or 1.5x you save time and the faster pace keeps your focus. I can actually do 2x sometimes but it’s a bit chaotic so don’t start there lol.

can anyone help me on my HW 1. Who are the antagonist and protagonist in the story? 2. How do you describe the main characters? 3. What is the lesson/s of the story?
@GreatBooksin10minutes
@GreatBooksin10minutes Жыл бұрын
1. The main protagonist of the story is Beowulf, a hero from Geatland who goes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of Denmark when his great hall gets attacked by a monster named Grendel. There are three main antagonists in the story, Grendel the monster, his mother, and a treasure loving dragon ( kinda like Smaug in the hobbit) 2. Beowulf possesses all the attributes of a classic hero. He is brave, strong and hot headed. He also sees himself as an invincible hero who can fight any monster empty handed and defeat it. Hrothgar is an old king who shortly after his men fail to kill the monster, admits defeat and locks down his great hall. Unferth is a hero wannabe from a noble family who carries the shame of murdering his own kin. He is also jealous of Beowulf at the beginning of the story but later admits that Beowulf is the only one who could save them and gifts his ancestral sword to him. Grendel is a monster who hates the sound of merriment and joy and senselessly attacks people. Some believe that he descended from Cain who killed his brother Abel, therefore embodies jealousy and is against human civilization. Grendel's mother is the personification of the dangers that anyone could face when they try to discover the unknown. She lives at the bottom of a dark and cursed lake and crushes anyone who tries to enter her lair. The dragon symbolizes greed and destruction and Beowulf's stand against it concludes his journey and arc from a hot headed self centered hero to a king who stands against the destruction of his kingdom and sacrifices his life for his people. 3. The story in essence is about conquering your fear in the face of evil, jealousy and selfishness, and journeying to the depths of your soul to rise above the vices that haunt all humans. On the surface, it is about a hero's journey from selfishness and his obsession with glory and treasure, to selflessness and service. I did your homework for you, Now let me sleep, kid! 😄

Non-fiction mind you. Dragons were real, dinosaur was a word invented in the 1800s, before then they were called dragons. Your world is more magical than you would be lead to believe.

@@GreatBooksin10minutes oh oops, yeah I wish when they made movies about books they got it right but they don’t even the movies about the Bible they get details wrong, it sucks, but yeah I read Beowulf and the movie isn’t like the book it’s way worse, but the book is awesome Beowulf is so strong he wrestles grendal and rips his arm off with the seer strength of his arms I recommend you read the new English translation of the book yourself. And yeah I believe it was a historical document and that it actually happened just like I believe the Bible and the apocrypha and the books of Enoch, Jasher and the book of Josephus and a few other of the Dead Sea scrolls, I’m a Christian and I believe in those books that there historical documents and the written word of God Almighty…
