I'm from an area that falls within Mercia, and there are a couple of OE words we still use, though falling out of use. 'Spanwannend' meaning to be stuck astride a wall and 'nesh' meaning easily feel the cold. From my understanding as well, in Mercian, the 'a' could be more of an 'o' sound, and that also still exists where I live, where man becomes 'mon'.

Old Mercian is Old English proper, one can say as Old Mercian is from the Angles themselves. Old English or what I would like to term as "Old British German". is best understood as a group of dialects, Old Mercian is one of them. Mostly when people refer to "Old English", They're really referring to Old West Saxon, and yes. They're intelligible.

@@shawnv123 To answer your question, it is the Mercian dialect. However, when it comes to dialects, it is understood that dialects are not uniform in that their features overlap with other dialects and that it's matter of sub-dialects. In good time, I will make a video about this.
