Reviewing the Berco Bercomac 48" Snowblower using an Arctic Cat TBX 500. Tested on my 1800 foot driveway with 1 foot of snow. I have owned and used this setup for three years during the extreme Maine winters and I will walk you through the pros and cons that I have experienced while using this machine. Please comment or ask a question and I will do my best to give you an answer. If you enjoyed the video, please hit the like button and Subscribe for more content.

That looks like it works great! I'm glad we didn't get that much snow in Illinois this year!!

Hi Glenn and happy birthday. Snowblowers always make things look so neat. I’ve used tractors, I’ve used plows, I’ve used shovels but never a snowblower. Thanks for the review 🙂🐕‍🦺👍🏻

Hi Carl, LOL , admittedly, I have used Dozers, Snowplows, scoops, shovels, 4-wheeler plows, and snowblowers, but I agree with you, snowblowers are by far the neatest! Thank you for the Birthaday wishes! I will stop by your channel soon for a visit, take care!

Overall it’s not a bad unit. The Honda motor makes up for a lot of shortcomings. Those casters can be fabricated to accept a different tire design. I’d probably take a couple of those old ones and see what could be made up. Might cost a lot more but they’d probably last a whole lot longer. I know some companies will skimp on some little parts that they don’t feel is that important to keep costs down. Nice unit though. Good review Glenn. 👍👍

Thank you! I agree, the Honda engine is a great start, and they definitely skimp on the engineering of the castors, for sure lol. I appreciate the advice, and will more than likely look into having some made up. Overall, I think it's a pretty good unit as well! 👍👍

I checked out Rammy after your comment, and seems to be a great machine, and doesn't have the caster issue, but does have a bit more load bearing on wheeler. Thank you for watching and the input! 👍

Excellent video and I’m glad and I’m happy for you that it works great for you lotta work, but you got to get out and you’re right you need to chains and you’re only taking your time. The snowblower is doing its work most people with them they’re destroying it because they don’t know how to use it.

It's not bad to operate, as long as nothing goes wrong, like those castor wheels lol. 🤔 Yes, I very much agree with you, we deserve a break from the cold and snow for a while!😉 I'm ready for some color LOL!!🌳🏕🌞 Thank you for watching, and take care!! 🙏

Hopefully snows over soon. Seems like you could make bowl shaped skid plates spring loaded instead of the caster wheels.It’s probably the weight bottoming out the front of atv tearing them up.

Hi Matt, hope all is well on your end! Agreed, hopefully winter ends SOON lol. That is a great idea. Matt, I have actually thought of similar ideas, But during early Winter, oftentimes the ground does not completely freeze. During that time, I think they could dig into the ground a bit more than the casters, but you are certainly on to something. lol, thank you very much for the idea 💡!!

Great video! Been looking at getting one for a while. The big concern I have is how close to the ground it gets. From all the videos I've seen it looks like it leaves around an inch which is better than a foot or more but still not ideal.

Would it hurt any to go up a little bit on caster wheel size? I’d like at least 1000# per side rating on the same size or slightly larger casters. I’m also wondering if you have had any issues with that cross bar between the casters bending? I’m seriously looking at all options right now. The casters and the cross bars are the weak links so far from what I am seeing.
@TwelvePointTroutOutdoors
@TwelvePointTroutOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
Hello, this machine has so much promise, and no I have not had issues with the cross bar bending at all, but the casters are definitely the weak link without a doubt. The engineers failed on the caster concept. Larger or even duel casters would work I believe, but after researching quality heavy duty casters, the cost is where I have trouble justifying going forward with the change. The casters I found that would work are priced from $400.00 each to as much as $800.00 each. I would also have to make the mounting plates on the cross bar a bit larger and with a larger bolt pattern, simple enough, but the cost!!🤮 Thank you for watching, and good luck!

Iam notthere looking at it but those casters reall only help assist when you lift the blower ? Iam wondering if a double ended shoe would work and limit the amount of turn radius they had . It looks to me like there getting caught side ways when backing up . My zero turn does that occasionally backing up but its easy to see and correct . I am wondering if you just restricted the turn radius to jut enough to allow movement to turn backing up and such but not tuning 360 degrees .

That my friend is an idea worth looking into! 🤔👍👊👏 Some of the units weight is, in fact, on the castors even when the blower is down, but a small amount in comparison. I believe you are on to something, because it is most vulnerable when the castors are allowed to get full sideways in certain situations. Thank you for your wisdom and out of the box thinking my friend, I will try to let you know what I decide to do and how it works out. Thank you again!!

Can you add a ski instead of a caster? You could make them out of 3/8” steel 1’ long
@Icutmetal
@Icutmetal 10 ай бұрын
How on earth would that work when turning?
@Alaskasbear
@Alaskasbear 9 ай бұрын
@@Icutmetalby using a swivel. They already have them. I wouldn't use a ski but more of and angled foot that swivels with a base wear plate on the bottom of foot .keep the caster and attach foot to caster. The whole point is to support the load. I am building my own with a 25 hp and 5 ft tractor blower.

We all run the REAL AMERICAN made Arctic Cat wheelers too, best machine ever made to date pure and simple. Looking into these blowers for my old Man, he has the 07' 700 same exact gearing the 3.6's, and live 1 state over, so say when we get the 24-36"+ deep heavy snow how would that run handle it? Can you handle the 3ft deep snow after all has fallen just by crawling? Or do you have to make a cut in the middle of the Storm like plowing? Does it take from start to finish the same amount of time as plowing or is it faster? Have you ever pushed too fast, choking it up with some slushy snow?
