So if the ghost requires you to be alone, and you need a spirit box response, you can hold the spirit box in your hand, speak to it, and whatever word it says will appear on the box if you're holding it so you'll understand it better.

I also suggest you observe what happens around you whether the ghost likes people alone or if it doesnt mind large groups you can tell a lot about what kinda ghost it is if you just observe and watch for one poltergiests will move a lot of stuff I mean a LOT or they will interact with stuff like telephones clocks and they will move stuff and if you just observe and see you will immediatley tell if the ghost may be a poltergiest. just watch the room and watch the ghost behavior.
