Consider the Aridus Industry CROM if you want a red dot. It allows for co-witnessing with iron sights

I would shoulder it a little higher, which would prevent most folks from needing a riser. Don't drop your head. Bring the gun up to your cheek. Also, shorten the length of pull. Take the spacers out. Defensive shotguns need the Shorter LOP.

Question - for the 1301, could you add the Barretta Toni Comp tube extender? I understand it defeats the purpose of having a shorter barrel, but if you wanted 2-3 additional shells it may make sense.

With this 1301 being a gen 3 mod 1, the mag tube is full length. Meaning, while there is threading at the end of the tube, the plastic cover goes over the metal tube underneath all the way to the handguard (see my takedown video). So, if you wanted to use that extender, you'd have to know if the base that works with the handguard detent is compatible with gen3 and if the part that is actually extending is threaded in that area where the end of the internal metal tube would be.

Nice build ! 👌 I assume you're setting it up as a deer slug gun or turkey. Of course a shotgun is always good for home defense as a friend of mine once said about 00 , " One squeeze of the trigger 9 pellets instantly " 😎 ✝️ ✡️

Good video. So are you going to mount your red dot on the stock pic rail or are you going to get the GG&G or Aridus crom mount, which replace the rear sight and stock rail?

@@YourFavoriteLibertarian That seems like a good choice. I don’t have either of those,but I’ve seen them. I do use Holosun on handguns and rifles, I really like them and haven’t had any failures with them. The one thing I personally don’t like is exact cowitness of a red dot with iron sights, I prefer lower 1/3. Because with exact cowitnes it is just too crowded and busy for my eye or my mind. I can’t seems to stop looking at everything the iron sights the red dot and the target which makes suing it all quite slow. If you don’t mind cowitnessing then your proposed setup will be real good. I only just last week finally got a 1301 and I think I’m going to get a strap on cheek riser for the oem stock and put a red dot on the oem pic rail and see if it works for me. I think your next shotgun should be the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical, everybody does the M4 but not too many 940s out there in video.

@deputydog5261 I prefer a 1/3 picture as well. I have a mossberg 930 JM pro series tactical class already (videos on the channel), so I'm not sure if I'll get the 940, but it is intriguing for someone looking in this segment. Seems high value, but my cousin has had issues with his 940.

I run the streamlight Polytac X on the LTT handguard so I can keep the handgaurd flex down with a lighter light. For a metal handguard, I've been really liking the HRT lights. They fit really well on the new midwest industries handguard, too. (Foreshadowing)

@YourFavoriteLibertarian hey hopefully ypu doing well may i ask my beretta 1301 same model as yours came with cylinder choke installed and an improve cylinder in the box now do i need to remove the choke to shoot slugs

I'm too blessed to be stressed! If you want to shoot slugs, leave the cylinder choke in. It creates the same diameter as a shotgun that is not threaded for chokes. If you remove the cylinder choke, the lead from the slug will shave off onto the threads, clog them up, and disturb the flight of the slug. If you switch out the cylinder choke for the improved cylinder choke, it creates a smaller diameter, which is good for tightening groups of shot (buck shot, bird shot, etc.) but could deform slugs. If I have a shotgun that is threaded for chokes, I leave the cylinder choke in almost always because it's great for slugs and 00 buck. I only change it out for improved cylinder if I'm shooting bird shoot in a sporting clays, trap, or skeet course. Hope that helped.

The factory configuration weighs 6.35 pounds. As configured, it weighs 7.4 pounds. It still feels very light.

Technically, it's Magpul Foliage Green cerakote. But it's Ranger Green in practice.
