No handgun, or any firearm in general, is perfect. If there was such an animal it would be universally used. I love the Beretta, i have a 96D and would never give it up, but for some people it would be a horrible choice of weapon. Example someone with smaller hands or weakness in there fingers/hands.

I've got 13k+ failure-free rounds through my 92FS; it has earned my trust. Currently my lawful concealed carry pistol is the Px4 Storm subcompact in .40 S&W, also 100% reliable so far. Enjoyed your clip. I'll bet the 96 is a magnificent fighting pistol! The thought of the .40 combined with a 5-inch barrel impresses me. Again, thanks for the clip!

Most of the 9's I've shot in the past were very load specific, Federal 9BP being the most soothing for most, cheaper ammo was all over the map. .40 seems more forgiving. Would like to have a 92FS but wondering if a 96 might be a better choice...

Great comparison video. I have two versions of the PX4, compact and sub-compact. Love them both. I actually like the compact better, but I carry the SC because it's smaller. 13 rounds vs 15 rounds, but you can use the compact magazine in the sub-compact and get 15 if you wish.

One thing I've always wondered was is the 96 frame and locking block built to withstand the abuse of the .40? From what I understand, most .40s get beat up more due to the design of the weapons they're fired in. Most 40 pistols made when it was really taking off were originally designed for 9mm and hence the frames and stress bearing parts wore faster since .40 was more powerful and accelerated the wear. A lot manufacturers since have beefed up the materials or designed guns meant to be .40 from inception and then scaled to 9mm, hence the frame can take .40 and 9mm all day. I wonder if Beretta ever did with the 92/96 platform? Any answers are appreciated
@convex7456
@convex7456 8 жыл бұрын
chrismc410 the 96a1 has a recoil buffer in it to take the .40cal stress off of the frame. the 92a1 has it too even though its not .40. so yes the have done something atleast.

oh I'm loving it alright! one problem I have though is somehow the rear sight shifted to the right, and I can't tap it back, so i have to get a special clamp to do so. Did you have this problem with any of yours? I don't know if its because i dropped it, or if firing the pistol actually caused the sight to shift. I didnt even notice it until I realized all my shots were firing to the right.

Dee Piper Hi Dee, that's awesome!! Glad you had the chance to try out the PX4!! Hope it was a full size, or a mid-size(compact) model. The tiny little sub-compact is also very nice, but doesn't have that awesome rotating barrel, which is what almost eliminates the recoil and improves accuracy.

I own a 96 inox and 25th M9, love both of them. I see you use the more traditional de-cocking method, curious were you a 1911 shooter previously? I personally just use the safety/de-cocker on mine. I like to carry mine de-cocked with the safety in the fire position, using the heavy DA trigger pull as the safety, this takes any additional steps out if/when I ever needed to use the firearm. I like how the Beretta allows you multiple methods of carry.

Daniel Lemond Hi Daniel, The Beretta 96 and the PX4 Storm both in 40 Caliber are very close to each other in performance, good feel to the grip, and capacity is close. I enjoy shooting both Pistols, both Pistols have been very reliable and point of aim is point of impact so no complaints there. I really find it boils down to the Looks of the Pistol.... I like both, but I find that is not very often found. Many Gun Guys like one or the other but not both. I like to be open minded and different then all the rest..LOL.... Both are winners Dan, and with the 40 caliber round, I think a person is well armed. :} I call this a win-win situation. Till next time...... Beretta Sr.

***** Thanks for your input one more question I have not trusted a salesmen to answer since he just wants to sell me a gun. .Did you find it harder to keep on target with the 40 Cal. when you first shot that over a 9MM if you did shoot the 9 first ? I often think about a 40 or 45 the extra ammo has stopped me. Not knowing how much more recoil there would be. shooting a 40 or 45 compared to a 9MM like a micro compact 380 ACP can be a good gun just not for the target range could the same case be made for the 40 or 45 more often then not if you understand what I am trying to say. I hope you don't mind all the questions. Thanks for your time.
@BERETTA9mmUSA
@BERETTA9mmUSA 10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Lemond Hey Dan, I shoot allot of 9mm, 40cal, and 45ACP..... Each Pistol make is a little different in taming the recoil. In the Case of the Beretta 96, or the Beretta PX4 Storm in 40 caliber, I have fired both in 40 and in 9mm. Both the Beretta PX4 Storm full size and the Beretta 96 do a very good job of taming that felt recoil. I find I can shoot these full size 40 caliber pistols the same as the full size 9mm as far as being on target. The other good pistol for full size 40 is The Glock 22 IN 4th Gen ONLY...... Not the 3rd Gen as its recoil is 30% more then the 4th Gen. I know I put 19,000 rounds through my 3rd Gen Glock 22 and now I have the New 4th Gen Glock 22 and it is so much better, anyway, stay with one of these 3 full size 40 calibers and you will only see about a 30% increase in felt recoil over the 9mm counterparts..... That's my 2 cents and I hope it helps a little. Stay away from the Micro sized 40 calibers and 45ACP pistols when making the change from 9mm pistols.... They may not be that fun to shoot at this point ....... Beretta Sr.

I have fired both and own the 96, the recoil is not that bad for the 96, its nothing you wont get use to after a few rounds. I know you have probably gotten this answer by now but if not just wanted to give you a non salesman opinion.

When speaking in service pistols scenarios, is the .40 better or worse. Yes it has more power, but more recoil means slower follow up shots plus 4 shots less in the chamber. Just thinking if a 9mm would be better to just have accuracy... Fast.
@BERETTA9mmUSA
@BERETTA9mmUSA 10 жыл бұрын
Hey Spenz..... You are Right, and this is what every buyer has to weigh when they make a buying decision. I would say if the shooter has allot of experience with pistols and wants the bigger hit of the 40Cal round then sure go with the 40. When considering how good the 9mm rounds are these days and with modern technology in regards to hollow point ammo, The 9mm will work very well for 90% of the shooters out there. Most 9mm mags will hold 3 or 4 rounds more ammo and don't forget that the practice ammo is much cheaper then 40cal or 45ACP practice ammo. In closing, The 9mm pistols are easy to shoot in terms of felt recoil vs the 40 and the 45, and the grip of the 9mm is slimmer in 90% of the handguns out there not counting the Beretta 92 and the Beretta 96 which are about the same as seen in this video. I hope this info is helpful, and thanks for sending in the comment and checking out our channel...... BERETTA9mmUSA.

Hi Joe Trout , Not sure on the history of when they changed it up, but I have videos up on this Beretta 96 with all black controls and if you check out my Stainless Beretta 92 { I purchased both pistols at the same time} that also has all black controls and trigger. I had herd that Beretta was using the parts they had left over. To find out the real deal it may take a phone call to Beretta and hope that you are able to talk with someone in the know. The Beretta 92 video is one of our oldest ones so you can check the date on that one.... I bought both the Stainless 92 and 96 about 30 days before the Beretta 92 stainless video that has 500K views on it...... to give you a time line on my 2 stainless pistols. Thanks man! I'm going to go to a range soon and shoot the 92fs. For experienced users what are the pros and cons in 40 cal vs 9mm.. Seems that if the guns are the same size that 40 would be the way since it has the greater stopping power. But I have no idea so I figured I'd ask.

Hello BERETTA9mmUSA, great videos, I love the Beretta as well. Just picked up a NIB Beretta 92fs inox and a NIB Taurus pt92 chromed. Taking them on the range tomorrow to test them out. Cant wait to begin the hunt for grips and stainless upgrades for the black parts on the beretta. Its Inox but the sadly, upper release and other small parts are black. Can you recommend a 9mm ammo brand? I got 3 for testing. Fiocchi 9mm, American Eagle 9mm and Aguila 9mm. So far I like the Fiocchi best but have not shot any of them yet.

I did just buy 1000 rounds of Speer LAWMAN 115 GR High Performance rounds at 1200 FPS. I bought it at AMMOMAN.COM for $279. I thought that was a Great price for high quality practice ammo, but I have not tried them yet. That is $13.95 a box of 50 rounds shipping was included. I find them the best ammo price in the USA. Great comparison. I have a Beretta 96FS INOX and a Sig 226 both in .40 S&W. I love my 96FS over my Sig 226. I'm thinking of selling the Sig and buying an Italian made 92 in 9mm to go with my 96FS.

I would look at the Wilson Combat Beretta 92G..... More money, but worth it..... All tricked out and built on a stronger frame too. I will be doing a review on one in June 2016 sometime. It really is amazing. Beretta Sr.

Was the 96FS a redesign or simply a caliber conversion. I know pistols can have issues with hotter rounds than they were designed for. The A1 is clearly a new design and I can’t stand that they change the styling since I think the 92 is so beautiful. I just like the feel of the .40 I find it much more pleasing to shoot. I heard one person complaining about feed problems I’m just concerned that if it’s a mere caliber conversion that it may have some of the typical problems of a conversion. Does anybody know the history of the 96FS?

west denver Hi West..... all are very good, I do not think you can pick a bad one here..... I like the INOX {Stainless Pistol} and I think that only comes in the 92fs. Other then that the M9 has that Military background to it., and the A1 seems to be a total package type of pistol.....it offers most things that buyers would want. With all of that said I will caution you that I have picked up 3 or 4 different Beretta 92 style pistols as of late and it seems the double action pull feels like 14 pounds not the 11 or 12 lbs on my 3 Beretta 92 and 96 pistols...... Now I have between 2k or 3k rounds through mine so maybe a bit of a break in will help these new pistols. Check a few of them and see what you think of the triggers. Good Luck..... BERETTA9mmUSA.

My friend just received his, which he got as the standard model from WC, runs you about 1200ish after shipping etc. I opted for the action tune (1 of 2 custom options for the gun) the action tune costs $110 extra. My friend I shot compared ours Beretta's the other night and no questions if you do want a WC Beretta opt for the action tune. NOW the standard WC 92g trigger is really nice, leagues past the original Beretta trigger. The action tune makes it even better. Just something to think about. Keep up the good work with your videos take care :)

I've got both of them, both good shooters, the 40 is the most accurate pistol I ever shot the nine isn't bad either, I carry the 40 more then the nine, because of the bigger bullet and maybe a little more knock down power, but hell sure wouldn't want to be shot by either, LOL

Love the .40 S&W, so versatile and gives you so many options with conversion barrels. Such and underrated under appreciated round. Plus right now due to supply and demand .40 is cheaper and way easier to find than 9 mm.

Hi Sir. Very good question. I would buy the Beretta 92 in 9mm first. The 9mm will last over 100,000 rounds and it is very reliable..... The 40 caliber is not only harder to shoot well, but the pistol will have half the shooting life. You would be lucky to have it last 40,000 rounds. The 40 caliber is just allot harder on almost all pistols..... Get the 9mm and you will love it and pass it on to your Kids, because it will still be shooting great! Good Luck! Beretta Sr.

The Beretta 92 in 9mm is a Top Notch pistol and you are going to love it. I have had 3 of them for almost 10 years and I still love them. You can find all 3 on our channel..... One is all black, one is a Bi-tone, and one is all stainless all of them in 9mm. I also have this stainless in 40 caliber. I do not think they are selling the stainless pistols any longer, but they sell a M9A3 in 9mm that is a Tan and Brown and it is awesome too....if that is all you can find for sale these days. :) Beretta Sr.

These are fantastic pistols. I love my M9, I use 18 round flush-fit Mec-Gar magazines. Mine is the Bruniton finish, someday an Inox 96 will complement it (especially if I can get a .357 Sig barrel for it. Of course, I still need to get a S&W Model 27 to complement my Model 29. Actually, I think I need a nice 1911 next. At least my pile of Glocks and Rugers is complete. Oooh, I need night sights on a few of 'em yet. I kinda wanna finish trickin' out my Saiga 12 first, though. I need to start doing these things instead of foolishly blowing my paychecks on bills...

Hi RedNose Pittbull...... I really like my Beretta 96 ...... Like a Bunch.... but I have handled 3 or 4 of the New Beretta 96 pistols and the Double action feels like 15ibs of trigger pull. The Single in them has been good. Check out 4 or 5 of them and find a good trigger, and I tell you ..... what a great full size pistol. I am lucky to have one that I dig, and A good Beretta 92 or 96 is more fun to shoot then the PX4 Storm ...... but that is just my take on it. Take care, and stay safe, Beretta Sr.
