Bolt disassembly of the Bergara B14R. The “R” is, obviously, for the “Rimfire” version of the B14 series of rifles.

Small world, I think I bought my lefty barreled action from yall. Fingers crossed that the disassembly goes well!

Thanks for explaining this!!! I was wondering if the right extractor spring was supposed to be stiffer than the left one...I was wondering if I had a defective one. Seems to work just fine though. Thanks

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;-)

Thanking for that. What size are the roll pins. I have some shims for headspacing and a rifle on the way. Will probobly need to strip the bolt a good few times in testing.

Please show us the disassembly of the cocking piece and can it be removed without disassembly of the rest of the bolt?

My B14-R isn'r extracting unfired rounds of the ammo I'm using. I could try other ammo but this match ammo shoots quite well. I heard extending (stretching out) the extractor spring on bolt side can help with this issue, any thoughts? Or other recommendations?

I would check the angle of the hook 1st. Most likely, it has a positive angle. It needs to be slightly negative. Just be careful with the file, easy to remove too much. Also, use a file with a "Safe edge" (no teeth on the sides). You can buy one from Brownells or just grind off the teeth on one you already have.

Push out a stuck round with a cleaning rod and look at the bullet for rifling marks. I had the same problem, the B-14R has a tight chamber. The bolt is pushing the bullet into the rifling making it difficult to extract a live round.

A friend and I have fixed the Bergara mag problem for the B-14 22lr I have taken pics of our solution but cannot download on here I will try and contact Aces & Eights and see if I can send it to them and they can do another vid. on that issue. I was replacing my mags every year.

Any truth to the rumor that these shouldn't be dry fired? Where does the damage occur? Or is it just the engineering department trying to avoid liability for malfunctions that might occur after a half-million cylcles?
@rdtaguestudios2 жыл бұрын
100% truth. What happens is, the firing pin extends beyond the bolt face and can start to 'peen' the chamber end of the barrel. This can cause misfires, extractions problems, as well as possibly breaking the firing pin, itself.

Is your bolt difficult to close? My B14R Carbon is noticeably harder to close than my CZ or Tikka RFs, and my Sako, CZ, and Tikka CFs. Any suggestions? Thanks for posting.

Are you referring to closing the bolt on an empty or loaded chamber? If empty, no I have not seen this. Other than normal cocking of the firing pin, much like a Rem700. If on a loaded chamber, Depending on the ammo used, yes. Every B14R we have dealt with is like this with certain match ammo. They use a "Bentz" chamber, which is a hair shorter than general run of the mill chambers. This is why they shoot so good. Chamber a round, then extract it. You should see slight marks on the bullet from coming in contact with the rifling.

@@rdtaguestudiosThanks for the reply. Yes, on a Chambered round. It has the issue on all of the ten or so ammo types I have tried- from Eley Tenex to cheap bulk. I may have Bergara look at it.

I’m dealing with this right now! I have the steel barrel and it is a pain in the ass to close the bolt when chambering a round. I know match chambers are gonna be tighter but this is just insane! I shot about 200 rounds today and my thumb is sore from working the bolt!
