The Berghof in Obersalzberg was a country house and from 1936 at the latest it was the private residence of Adolf Hitler.
It was built in 1916 as Landhaus Wachenfeld for a north German merchant. From 1928, Hitler's country house was a rented holiday home. After taking power in 1933, he bought it and had it gradually expanded, initially by the architect Alois Degano and then by Roderich Fick, to create the Berghof, his representative residence.
It then formed the core of the Obersalzberg prohibited area, which with the construction of the “Small Reich Chancellery” in 1937 and Reichenhall-Berchtesgaden Airport as the second seat of government became a central place of power in the National Socialist German Reich. In total, Hitler spent about a third of his reign at the Berghof, that is almost four years in total. [1] International diplomats and politicians came to the Berghof for negotiations.
The building was badly damaged by Allied air raids shortly before the end of the war. In 1952, the Free State of Bavaria had the building blown up. The Obersalzberg documentation, located not far from the former Berghof grounds, particularly links local and entire Nazi contemporary history

The Berghof should be rebuilt and restored to the same condition as it was at the start of September 1 1939. perhaps with replica furnishings and furniture.

If walking on the road in front of the Berghof and just before you get to the Zum Turken Hotel bend in the road on your left hand side will be a slope down near some wire fencing. Tunnel entrance. 👍

I've been there many times and what i found very interessting is when you see this place in real it's quite small compare to the old pictures of the Berghof. The 'vibe' you can feel there has a lot to do with the weather. But i allways had goosebumps.
