Very sad, indeed ! That young woman is beautiful, she has such a charming smile. I hope that she survived that horrible war.

My father was stationed there from 1962 to 1965. The whole family went. I never saw any war damage either. The city was just amazing back then. Safe, clean with good transportation and such. We lived near the Grunewald in the American sector. We lived at 110 Wildentensteig, an address that's still visible in Google Earth but much changed in 50+ years.

It looks like a 328 Coupe made between 1936-40. Converted to heat wood, a technique that captures the wood gasses and injects the synthetic fuel into the motor cylinders. Works very well actually, clever Germans. This was a regular thing with VW’s during the war. All the oil and gas was used for tanks and planes.

The young blonde lady in this film is the same one you can see in a series of films on Danzig and Zoppot during the same period (1941, 1942, 1944...). I wonder whether she and her husband survived the war...

Very sad. The film gives the impression that the time was almost a romantic one...Freud called it "Verdrängung" ... - I don`t judge anyone in this film. I don`t know what I would have done.

.....from about 2 minutes onwards the family are playing with a dog. It looks very much like a Sealyham Terrier, not a common dog even these days. Is it a Sealyham? They are wonderful dogs!

Whatever the scenario in 1944, come spring of '45 it had to be a living hell. The Red Army pummeled the city and suburbs and took its Stalingrad anger out with vengeance.

Note the external tanks on the car. I believe it has a converted engine to run on gas, as oil was in such short supply.

It must have been early in 1944. They had no idea of what's coming. That made this film so sad. Like what was mentioned in another comment I hope the people featured in this film made it through the hell storm that was coming their way. I hope that because those girls were beautiful that they were able to hide from the Russians. The Russian army conducted an origy of rape on every German city they took.

Yes and the Germans razed cities like Warsaw and Smolensk to the ground while murdering thousands of Russians, Poles, Jews etc so what exactly is your point? There were no "good" sides in that terrible war, each side was just as vicious to each other
