I agree with the others. Very contradictory to be talking about the glory of the old Berlin scene, how it was raw/honest and fore-warning that the scene should not be pushed out and closed down - while also being endorsed by Nike... This could not have been an expensive short doco to shoot, so why pull in or take up the offer of endorsement by a 90+ billion dollar company, when all it does is exemplify how fashion, capitalism and marketing have slithered into the scene and the music, which is inevitably what always kills that very scene.

the more you publicly hype up Berlin's need to be forgotten past, the more the city dies. It wasn't all that back then it was just new, different and unregulated.

I am “Berlin tired”. All this blabla how amazing it is there and that. While when you look objective to it, its a dark and gray depressive mess, poor people and way too much drugs. Its not about the music anymore.

@@Stoney-Jacksman Well, Berlin has become much nicer to look at in many parts of the city since many houses have been restored. The negative side of it where increasing rents that many could not afford anymore. What most foreigners living in the nowadays "hip" and cool parts of the city don't know is that large parts of the formerly german population where excanged for them. I was to young to experience the 90's creative environment and only catched a few impressions of that, but watching some documentarys I can imagine what it must have been like living in that time and I can definately say that I can't find this spirit here anymore and I don't know where I could possibly find it, cause the wild and free spaces seemed to have disappeared and exchanged for office buildings, hotels and malls (like the incredibly ugly mall at Warschauer Straße that was opened a few weeks ago!

Alexandra Dröner is wrong. Techno as a genre was much better in the past, the rawness and magic has gone. Commercialised over the years, online sample stores and music streaming platforms have killed it not to mention hipster dj's who can't mix for shit.

Of all companies...Nike!? :) I bet the exact same corporate Nike-yippies are the same ones that, in 5 year's from now, would love to invest in "really COOL Berlin properties". And then when they moved in there or had rich tidy persons moving in there forcing away shops and bars that can't affod the trippled rent...and then unpopularity of clubs near their beloved expensive flats. And then they complain to local politicians so that the club must close. So the circle is closed. , I'd prefer to go more east Tallin, Riga, Warsaw etc or even stay at my own town and look up secret open airs. Berlin is interesting in other ways like historical aspects. But this video show how "cool" Berlin is at the moment sorry to say... :)
