Behind the music: Daishin Kashimoto

Our first concertmaster Daishin Kashimoto grew up in Japan, the USA and Germany, but feels closely connected to the Japanese mentality. He is all the more excited about travelling to his home country and reveals in our video how tradition and modernity clash here. He also reveals what exactly the role of a concertmaster is and how his Japanese upbringing helps him in his work.

He is a very cool violinist and the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmoniker! I love his performance, and I'm also surprised that he can speak German like this. I love him!

大進さん、コンサートマスターの席に座った最初の演奏会［テスト中］が小澤征爾さん指揮［メンデルスゾーン・エリア］だったのでしょうか。もしそうなら、ベルリンフィル側の配慮を感じます。小澤征爾さん最後のベルリンフィルを振った演奏会［2016年］、聴きました。樫本大進さんの全身全霊で応えておられた姿に、感動しました。樫本大進さんなりの小澤征爾さんに対しての［お礼］だったのでしょうね。この日の演奏会はお年寄りが多かったです。もう何十年に渡って小澤征爾さんの演奏を聴いてきたファンに違いないと思いました。皆さん、小澤征爾さんの最後の演奏会になるのでは　と思って聴きに来られたのでは。

マエストロさん初めまして、ご返信ありがとうございます。そうでしたかぁ、貴重な空間におられたのですね。小澤さんの顔や髪の毛の先から汗が飛び散っていた光景が何だか懐かしいですね。私は今年45歳ですが、死ぬまでに一度でいいから、ベルリンフィルのベートーベンかブラームスの交響曲を聴いてみたいです^_^ マーラー、ブルックナーも良いですけど、やはり本場のベートーベン、ブラームスは心に沁みるんでしょうね。

1966年だったでしょうか。大阪フェスティバルホールでカラヤン指揮ブラームスな交響曲第1番を聴きました。高校生でした。ベルリンフィルの素晴らしさに圧倒されました。B席で2800円でした。最近の演奏会は高すぎて、年金生活の身にはとても無理です。

ブラームス1番とは羨ましい限りですね。2楽章のソロはトマス・ブランディスさんとかですかね？チケット確かに高いですね、私はまだ聴いたことは無いですが、私がもし仮にチケットが取れるような事があったならば、もう金庫の奥のほうに直し込んでしまいそうです（笑）
