"The Hymn of Love (L'Hymne à l'amour)" was written by Marguerite Monnot (music) and Édith Piaf (original French lyrics) in 1949. It was first sung by Piaf that year and released in 1950. English lyrics were added by Geoffrey Parsons. Piaf sang the song in the 1951 French musical comedy film 'Paris chante toujours (Paris still sings).' The song has been covered by many artists and also featured at the closing ceremony (sung by Milet) of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the opening ceremony (sung by Céline Dion) of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. I have always enjoyed playing this song and after hearing Céline Dion's exceptional performance at the Eiffel Tower for the 2024 Summer Olympics, I was inspired to record my own rendition in the honor of this great occasion. I hope you enjoy my version for accordion.
