Hi, very generous of you to give away. I’m 73 and have some arthritis in hands, but loving to play. I played guitar years ago and now the uke. The Tianyu that you described with low action seems like it would be easier to play and I would be “over the moon” if you choose me as the recipient. Bless you for your lessons, it has been a pleasure playing with you.

Your ukes are beautiful! You are so generous to give them away. Your channel has been so helpful in teaching me to play. I am five weeks in and am enjoying playing along with you on KZbin. I do have arthritis, so that one you mentioned for arthritic hands would be perfect for me.

Awesome! Please more Jose videos! This (you two are) is the best...dynamic duo! Don't stop! I am a elementary music teacher just starting a program this past year in Milan. You are our biggest resource that we turn to in learning the Ukulele. Thank you for all you do. I know that making this channel is not easy and that there is so much that goes into making these. Thank you for all of your hard work. I LOVE, LOve loVE the (red) Ortega Earth Ukulele beautiful beautiful! I would love to have this. With the pick up to be heard when I am playing to, for and with my students as I teach and our assembleys and future concerts. I also think love the idea of the light up fret board (the Enya Smart ukulele) to help my students learn. That would be a blessing to have and useful as a great teaching tool! Thank you for this video. I hope you do a lot more with Jose, the dynamic duo. Lovely, wonderful and awesome! : )

I was just telling my husband that the ones you decided to keep were my favorites too. I especially like the one Wendy painted. I've been playing a tenor ukulele for six months now and my husband gifted me a concert ukulele for Christmas. I've come a long way mainly due your tutorials and I love playing my uke! I may not be proficient yet but playing makes me happy....kind of like my drug of choice....I forget all my worries when I play!

just came across your channel earlier today. my fiancé died a few months ago and i've been thinking about picking up learning ukulele as a hobby just as something to keep me occupied, so i've been watching a lot of ukulele vids on youtube lately haha. i just wanted to say that i really love how thoughtful you are in rehoming your ukuleles- there's something so wonderful about seeing you recognize things like "this would be good for someone with carpal tunnel," etc, and wanting to make sure the uke is placed with someone who could really benefit from its particular quirks.
@BernadetteTeachesMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephanie, I think the ukulele would be a wonderful hobby to pick up. The ukulele community is so warm and loving. I think that's what makes re-homing ukuleles so easy. I know that ukulele people are just so authentic and genuine. Hope you'll join us :)

So many different types off ukuleles, I used to think they were all the same but your channel has definitely opened my eyes to the beaty of the ukulele. 2 more weeks and I'll have my first one and I cannot wait to finally be able to use your lessons :) thank you for posting them.

Hi Bernadette! So happy to see another video with you and Jose! I think it’s fantastic to see that both of you are musical. It’s great for married couples to share similar hobbies, and I think it helps to keep you close. My husband and I have been married for 34 years. I know I mentioned previously that I recently started playing the ukulele....and my husband has been playing instruments for years. I’m thrilled to share the same hobby with him (he plays guitar, keyboard, harmonica, among other things, but not ukulele). I also picked up the ukulele to help keep the creative side of my brain active...my mom was diagnosed with dementia a couple of years ago, and I thought that keeping my brain active would help keep my memory developed and healthy, and minimize my chances to end up with issues as I get older. Also, the ukulele is a lot of fun! So happy too to see the giveaway. Glad you decided to keep Elise’s uke! I’d definitely like to enter (I already have notifications for your channel enabled, and already follow you on Instagram (my Instagram username is kimmymccarley). I saw you’re using an app to randomly choose...great idea, as I’m guessing there will be a TON of folks entering the giveaway, as there are a lot of us that admire you and the help you give to those of us learning to play the uke. :) If I had my choice from the concert ukulele group it would be: #18 Uma, #3 Amumu Tattoo, and #8 Ortega Earth (I checked out the Ortega previously, and I think the one you have is the Fire, if I’m not mistaken). Also, if I’m fortunate enough to be chosen to win one, I’d be happy to pay the shipping charges for mine (I live in Ohio), as I know it must cost a fortune to ship all of those ukes to the winners! I’m just happy to have the opportunity to be considered! I hope you and Jose (and your kitty cats) had a Merry Christmas, and I wanted to wish you a blessed New Year! Thank you for all that you do for us! Best, Kim

Goodness that is a lot of ukuleles! There are so many varieties. I can understand how hard it is to to through supplies and pair down, especially if you are a teacher and you are like this is possible inventory for a future class. It is worth it especially when you give it away to someone who would use it. It would be cool to see a little video of the ones you will give to a school. I believe it will be super exciting to both the teacher and student. I love the uma pineapple ukuleles. I ordered a diy pineapple ukulele kit to try out for my daughter, since the 3D printer is not behaving itself. I do have some wood working experience, I don’t expect it to sound fabulous since bass wood is very soft and is prone to fraying. But, with a set of nice strings it may be passable. I hope you had a nice Christmas and as always blessings to you and your love ones.

Omg I adore the videos and the interaction with your adorable husband!! So much fun to watch the two of you! I’ve been searching for an affordable, well-made, beautiful but plain Concert sized pineapple ukulele for a few months. If you are looking for a place for her, I would definitely give her a loving home. 😁. Not sure what your selection process will be, but I promise I am a very kind person just trying to learn ukulele in a rather affordable way. I’m the one who left my job two years ago to take care of my elderly mom, so funds are tight but I have many hours to fill, since I rarely leave her alone and I practice while she naps. I dislike asking for things from people but if you are giving it away I would be very appreciative. If not, that’s fine too, either way I’ve been enjoying your channel for several months. You are an excellent teacher and since October I’ve already learned quite a few songs because of you! Thank you for that and for considering me! Happy ‘belated’ Christmas and wishing you and your husband a Happy & Healthy New Year!

How wonderful! You will make a lot of people happy! I know there was talk about making a “best of” list with the various models. If it is not too much trouble, could you make note of the lowest action for the various sizes of ukes before they find new homes? That would really help us with joint issues determine what neck size and action would be most suitable for our individual needs. I use my uke primarily for physical therapy and I’m toying with the idea of getting a larger one for that extra stretch. 💪Thanks for all the stellar content you’re putting out! Keep it up!

Hola Bernadette. It is a pity that the Donner uke had a buzz and that you did not review it, I would have liked to have known your thoughts on this brand. That is because the uke I have is the tenor Donner EQ, and I am really happy with it!!😊😊. Obviously it does not sound as good as some of the more expensive ukes like the Enya's that you have reviewed, but for the price I think that it is a good entry level instrument. Amazing how much variety there is even within a given size of uke.

oh i didn’t know you were decluttering more sizes!! the a string on my concert snapped the other day after my sister hit it with her nunchucks 😭 i enjoy seeing how many ukes you have lolol

When I was little, my Poppa bought my sisters and I our own ukuleles (sopranos). It wasn’t until last year when I learned that there were different sizes! The concert really seems to be the perfect size for everyone. (Jose’s face towards the end of the video !!! He’s so funny!)

"You chose this!" 🤣 I bought myself a budget-friendly concert uke and that's probably enough for now, but I'm intrigued by the Uma and Amumu brands. I'm glad you kept all your favorites -- they're obviously special, plus you'll want a variety for videos and other purposes. This is both your profession and your passion so, honestly, eight doesn't sound at all like it's too much! ...P.S. Jose's face after "stop being weird!" 🤣

I think 23 is a reasonable number. I am a retired CPA and I had well over 23 mechanical pencils!! Tool of the trade. Thank you for all you do.

Trying to reduce the # of ukuleles is hard. I had 20 and gave away 2 for Christmas (Sunstar Concert Spalted Maple & Bondi Concert Laminate Mahogany). Down to just 18 now. The remaining ones are a bit more expensive and therefore going to be more difficult to reduce. Keep up the great work on the channel.

Julia Dahn oh Julia I completely understand. Most of these ukuleles were sent in PR, so I didn’t buy them. If I had bought them, this process would be much more difficult!!

You are very generous, every one probably has a slightly different sound to trained ears. I worked on Carol of the bells with my baritone ukulele, did you do a B7 for the B chord, on the baritone a B chord was a Barr chord and not on my ability level yet. You inspired me to try the baritone ukulele again.

I LOVE ur pineapple uma ukulele with the bears on it! I recently picked up ukulele to play for my baby son. He was recently diagnosed with trisomy 8 which is a genetic condition that makes him developmentally disabled. He loves music and smiles when he hears it. I hope to one day get a ukulele with a cute design for him in the nearish future. And watching this video definately gave me some good ideas on what they can look like. I started playing using ur 30 day ukulele challenge and it helped so much! Thank you for all of your videos!! 😊💜🎶

Always enjoy your videos. Let's see more of Jose. Learned so much in the past year. My ukulele had a buzz after I changed strings. One tuner nut came loose during string change. I fixed it.

Oh, you are giving these away? You’re so generous!!😊 I would love to get a ukulele but I have a quick question. Do you think the Enya KUC 20 will be a good option for a beginner? I have a very tight budget and I’m not sure if that will be a good one to invest in. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. (It’s around $55 on Amazon). Thank you, you’re so inspiring!! 🥰

I bought me a Bondi concert ukulele for Christmas. It is smaller than I thought it would be. Kinda wishing I would have gotten a bigger one. You’re videos inspired me to try to learn to play a ukulele. I currently am the bassist at our church. Learning to play the ukulele has been challenging.

Glad you kept the Pono. Were I you I would have kept the Amumu as well. Glad also that some of these are going to children. I was given a plastic toy ukulele as a child and quickly gave up on it. Were it an actual instrument I would be miles ahead of where I am right now. You may remember I once said I would be happy with just two ukuleles. I am currently at three: an Ohana TK-275G in all solid acacia, a Kala solid-cedar-top 5-string, and a Hola! solid spruce-top (my “Frankenlele,” which I use for trying out different string combinations and other modifications - I recently cut a sound port into it, for instance). All are tenors. I did have six ukuleles, but gave one to a deserving student and sold two of them. All of the ukes I thinned from the herd are laminate tops. That said, in the next two years I plan to acquire either a Klos or Blackbird composite tenor in Low G, and a banjolele. This would give me one Low G, one re-entrant, one five-string, a banjolele and the Frankenlele. Each has its own purpose. And even then, I would not have an ukulele with a pickup, nor a backup for the Low G or 5-string. The way I look at it, I eventually “need” nine tenor ukes, and I would not discount the probability that I will acquire others that catch my eye (or ear). Plus, if I ever win the lottery, I am SO going to fly to the Big Island to beg Chuck Moore to build me a Moore Bettah tenor.

You know, I never thought about possible ukulele giveaways. I hope one day I could take part in something like that. It's so nice that you showed us all of these! I'm curious if you have more ukuleles now, or if you kept the amount low! Knowing the story behind some of the ukuleles is also pretty interesting, like the moth ukulele. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Bernadette, I’m happy to take the Donner with the buzz off your hands for you! I build cigar box guitars and ukulele’s for fun and enjoy troubleshooting issues like buzzes. Once I fix it, I’ll give it to my daughter. Happy holidays!

Wow, so many instruments :) I try to keep my ukepool small. I just have two tenor, eut-mad low g and M6 high g from enya. I sold some and just kept my favourite ones.( and a concert for my oldest daughter, and a soprano for my youngest daughter, and another concert for visitors...you see the problem?). It is really hard to give some away, and it is really hard not to get new ones too. You did a good job sorting out.

In the video you mentioned the quartet for the Duke ukuleles, I would love to participate because I have a tenor sized one :)
