I got this same ukulele about 7 months ago. It was my fourth ukulele. I use it primarily now. I love the unique look and it sounds great. I don't know anything about the brand, and I was skeptical at first, but it has proven to be a good instrument. The tuning also was never an issue for me.

I’ve been teaching a little girl that’s become sick. And I do homebound visits. I bought her this very same ukulele and she loves it. She is learning very fast. The ukulele has begun to hold its tune after 1 week of playing it. She has been using her journal that we got from you. I think that journal is a miracle worker. If you want I can email you her picture holding her uke. I think this uke is a nice starter. Btw, I only have 2 ukes. A soprano and a concert. I will buy a tenor soon, but that’s all I really want.

Myrna Saldaña awesome comment. Prayers for your student and thanks for sharing this. I work with a special needs child as well and have recently incorporated uke lessons into our regime. It's been very therapeutic for him and tho he struggles with finger placememt, he gets so excited when he's learned a new chord that he acts like he just won a marwthon, lol.

This is a very nice looking good sounding instrument, and you did a great review. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to get past the fact that it has words etched into the top of it. No thanks! It would be like buying a new car that has the word AUTOMOBILE painted on the side of it. Why is the word "GUITAR" even on there. I don't get this.

I have a tenor. I enjoy the simplicity of the uke compared to playing guitar. Plus, you can sing normally or even hum, and hear yourself over the ukulele. The tenor also leaves enough room on the fretboard to move my fingers around, where the smaller sizes feel cramped. However, because the lowest note is a C, I tend to think of it as a C-centric instrument.(As opposed to the E-centric guitar.) Also, C is the easist chord, so it seems like a lot of songs are in C, though A is handy too. Also, on the guitar I'm used to fooling around with the E and A to play bass runs, and riffs that I can't do on the uke, unless I'm in C. I tried a guitalele, but it's too many strings in too small a space, plus it tunes to A, although it can be played with the same shapes as guitar chords. The baritone didn't impress me one way or the other, I kind of felt like if I were going to be tuned in guitar, I might as well be playing a guitar. So, it looks like I'm going to stick with the tenor, because it is a different experience than the guitar. I've seen some electronic tenors, though, that might be the next uke. Another advantage of the uke: more cost effective than guitars, that's for sure. Love your lessons.

The only problem I see with this ukulele is that there is no way to access the internal pick up parts if necessary other than removing the top which would not be very feasible. Probably never need to do that but with the Amazon price I am blown away. I think I may have found my Father's Day gift everyone keeps asking me about. You are just awesome. Keep posting. In my opinion I think if you buy a new Uke it has to be purposeful. Like buying a different style or size, maybe getting a banjolele or a tenor opposed to your normal concert size. Getting a Uke for asthetic would definetly be something musicians with a lot of money can afford. But it's your money and your life. Cool collection btw!

Simple practical tip: No fret markers on top? No prob.. Just wipe surface clean, and use liquid paper to dot the top to get a nice visual. Easy to scratch off w finger nail if u no longer want it. Easy to touch up too, just re-dot for periodic maintenance. Works for beginner classical guitarist not used to having any fret marking on fret board, and top side of neck.

I currently have two of my own, a Luna acoustic-electric concert, and a Mitchell baritone. I have purchased 3 sopranos, (a Mitchell, a Donner and a Mahalo), a Donner tenor, and a Rogue baritone for the church group. I have plans of acquiring a Hankey acoustic-electric tenor in a couple of weeks to add to my personal collection. Following that, I have plans of adding a Caramel acoustic-electric baritone. I am probably typical of your basic musician with G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). My bass guitar collection consists of a Fender P-bass, a Carvin LB-75 (five string), a Peavey Millennial 5-string, a Rogue fretless 4-string, a Michael Kelly Dragonfly acoustic-electric fretless 5-string, and a Dean Pace electric upright bass. Three 4-string basses and three 5-string basses, three fretted and three unfretted. Pretty balanced right? And only two sets of drums, my acoustic set of Rogers drums I've had since the '60's and my Yamaha electronic set I bought two years ago. I enjoy your unboxing videos where I can vicariously enjoy new instruments as seen through your eyes. Please tell us also how well the frets are dressed, and whether they have what has been described as "fret sprouting", (frets that protrude beyond the fretboard). I have had two ukuleles that I had to file down to make them playable. Your cats must LOVE unboxing days... They get New boxes to hide and play in. Thanks for the video, and sharing with us.

Only two ukuleles in my household; a laminated mahogany Hula Ukes concert, and a solid-spruce-top Hola! tenor with laminated ebony back and sides and an open (slotted) machine head. Both have been restrung with Aquila red string sets. The concert is re-entrant, the tenor has an unwound Low G. I would be happy with just two ukuleles, just not these two. I am saving (very slowly) for a Blackbird tenor and a Kamaka baritone (the Blackbird first).

My wife and I each have one ukulele. The first one we got was a concert Fender Zuma from Guitar Center. The second one we got was a tenor Enya EUT-X1 from Amazon based on a recommendation from you. I’ve been shopping for more as I want to start encouraging some of my neighbors so we can have some neighborhood campfire jam sessions. If we get any good at playing, we may work it into some of our aviation hobbies. We are trying to build an aviation themed playground at our local airport so kids and their families can come and play and learn more about aviation. Once you move to Bethesda, I may try and entice you to participate if you’re up for the challenge. 😜. We’ll see... Oh, and we have one cat that use to be a neighborhood stray but adopted us.

Bernadette Teaches Music: That would be so awesome if you and Jose did visit, you have inspired me to double up on my efforts. I like both the Fender and the Enya. The Fender’s “C” string has started buzzing a little bit. I had one of the guys I met the other night at the jam session take a look at it and give me his option. He thinks the piece in the bridge should be raised as he thinks the action may be too low. I put new strings on but the buzz stayed so he gave me the next course of action to try. I think before I do I will take it to Guitar Center and see what the guys there think it is. I was mildly disappointed with the Enya at first as I didn’t like the thin strings and the low volume. However it does have a very rich pleasant sound and the customer service at Enya is really awesome. They sent a junk plastic capo with the purchase of the ukulele and when I complained, they sent a nice metal capo plus a new set of strings at no charge. Bottom line, I’m glad I took your advice on purchasing the Enya.

Just purchased a Paisen tenor, had it a week. I love the wood colour and beading, but I love the fish, just so cute I’ve developed a habit of checking tuning before and after practicing to help settle the strings in and it is holding tune well. It wasn’t as ‘plinky’ as I expected a ukulele to be and was delighted to hear its warmth. I’m in my early days of both owning and playing a ukulele and I am not disappointed. After a lot of searching for useful resources on KZbin I have subscribed and beginning to watch and learn from your channel archives. Thank you Bernadette. 😘

Hello Bernadette. Yes it seems due to the lower price for these things we can collect more than we need. I have 2 and will possibly buy another. I have seen these on Ebay for about $100 which comes as an acoustic electric for which is pretty amazing. Yours seems to have good volume. What would you say as compared to the Kala models you have played? It looks like this one you purchased on Amazon. I may have to consider one of these. Opps ...there we go again .....buy another ukulele?

I currently have 6 ukuleles (2 soprano, 2 concert and 2 tenor). There are three that I am very interested in getting the Enya M6, Enya Flower and Maton Bunya wood. I have decided that I'm not allowed more than 2 in each size and if (okay, when) I get any more that I will donate my current ones to a local school for student use.

Used to have one cheap soprano uke that doesn't stay in tune, given to my baby nephew as a toy. Now I own a concert uke, a budget one but I chose it because it has a nice tone, very happy with it. I'd love to get a tenor uke but I get very attached to this concert one, don't know if my heart be divided having two. See how, maybe it'll stick to my current one for a really long time, to season it. If I get another one in future, maybe I'll make one a low G uke and one remains a high G.

I had 3 ukuleles, but I am quite still trying to find my 'final' ukuleles. I have sold two of them and will sell my last one after I buy one to replace it. This week I bought a Kala watermelon ukulele because I thought the children from my class would just love it, however, I'm returning it this week. It looks lovely and the sound is nice but it is just way too quiet, I think the heavy paint on it just muffles the sound. So for now I only have a Kala soprano one. I saw that ukulele on Amazon and also at Aliexpress.com but never felt confident enough to buy it. The down side for me is that I don't like the message written on it, (however, the one I saw on Amazon here does not have it) and the strap button comes in the direction for a right handed person, they could have put it in the middle thinking about left handed people as well... A part from that it looks nice...

Hi Jennifer! The OMS concert ukulele has a really nice and loud sound. I unboxed it here on this channel before and my friend, Vasko, from Ukulele Cheats plays it often. He said he liked how loud the sound was as well. It does come with strap buttons for a right-handed person, but if you bought a strap with a lace, you could pin it at the bottom (like all straps) and then tie it at the headstock (like guitar players often do). Many people (myself included) like the sound of the Cordoba and the Oscar Schmidt. Might be worth checking out ;)

Bernadette Teaches Music I heard a lot about Oscar Schmidt but they are hard to find here in the UK. I’m considering a Cordoba also, but I need to go to a store to try it. I started playing at the beginning of 2017 with my first concert uke. Then bought another - just to compare the two and return one of them. Then I found a little and cute soprano. And another to compare. And so on... 😂 I returned none of them but still think about selling the one or the other. All in all I have six ukes right now and two of them are my favorites I play most of the time. Some days ago I went to my local music store to buy some better strings for my concert uke and the shop assistant hurried to show me some new ukes he had in his store. One of them a baritone which I don't own yet... now I'm thinking about a baritone all day long... 🙃 Very funny video, Bernadette.

I purchased this for my boyfriend for his birthday. I was afraid that it wasn’t going to sound as good as his other ukuleles, but we we’re surprised that it has a great resonance. I am glad it was a great price for all that you get with it.. and as for the capo- he uses it on his acoustic guitar lol Also, his does not have the added letters on the front.

Lovely Ukulele. It's also so dark and matte. Just the writing on it that throw me off. But I love matte finish on ukulele because all of my classical has glossy finish. The capo really is too big. My own guitar capo is not that big.😅😅😅 I only have 1 concert size ukulele but in the process of searching the right one to expand. As I told you before I have 5 classical and 1 of it is fretless. Great job on the unboxing. It was so fun. 👍👍👍

Hi Bernadette, i love your channel to this point that i have started to learn playing ukulele :). On April i bought ukulele soprano Boulder Creek Riptide with a dual port system - 1 on the side, 1 small port in the front on the upper right bout. In fact, this is my first ukulele and i'm really beginner, but I have a feeling that something is wrong, the uke make an annoying buzz sound and i don't know how to get rid of it. Is this could be because of my not good technic of playing or this is an ukulele defect. Do you have any experience with that kind of problem and/or could you advise me something in this case? Thanks in advance

Hi Bernadette. I don't have a photo but it was the Tianyu like the one you reviewed. I have seen it with the name Amoon and Carmel. Jody from Girl Meets Uke just reviewed the one they copied. It's an Applause made b y Ovation with the Ovation back. I had an identical Ovation guitar years ago and that's why the Tianyu appealed to me. The action was not set and the second fret on the G string hit the fret and buzzed. Rather than to pay someone to set it up I returned it. They claim to be Rosewood but the Amoon sell for under $60.00 on Amazon.ca so you and I know what kind of quality that would be. I can't play guitar anymore because of my back so I started Guitalele and ukes about 6 months ago. I started playing in 1960. I bought a new Gibson J 45 in 1963 for $200.00 with case and a new Martin D 28 in 1966 for $420.00. Those were the days. Thanks for your reply. Bruce.
