Bernadette, I wanted to comment again to say your content is high quality. Your 30 day Ukulele Challenge document/download...is incredible. You can tell it was created by someone with expertise in those fields. It can stand on its own even without the excellent videos that go along with it. Your teaching style is great. It's to the point but it doesn't leave out the details or nuances that can make such a big difference. Great for beginners and more experienced players alike. You shouldn't hesitate to drop those credentials now and again to remind folks :)

@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Hey thanks a lot for the reply, since you asked the song is almost sounding as intended. Strumming works smoothly, the only trouble I have is the shift between g and b I decided to go full barre, because I have relatively big hands and my index finger felt pretty uncomfortable on just two strings. Got to pratice that a little longer to get a clean sound ^^ Ps.: I saw your 10 reasons why people quit ukulele video. I just want you to know that I really appreciate your effort and you should never feel like you don't deserve the success of the channel, because you do! Looking forward to your content 😉

@@BernadetteTeachesMusic I am afraid I do not know the friend of my friend, but he clearly has great taste. You have such an easy way about you with a caring and nurturing style. I have about 100 videos on You Tube, but they are for my own amusement and I rarely practice any of them beforehand. Mostly I play them through once and then just commit them to video, warts and all. Whatever I play is what you see, first time though with no 2nd takes. But I have a forthright almost aggressive style in my approach. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts? Kind regards, Andy

Thank you.I am still struggling with B chords whatever shape I try with my fingers. Had my Ukes over 2 years now. If I do a full barr I can't seem to get the second string down and using your prefered method I get a pain right in the middle of my wrist which is not good. However I have found that B7 can be used instead of B and that is easier for me. Just too add it does depend on which of my Ukes or Banjolele's I play. My Kala Concert seems to suit me best. I like trying to sing this song.

Loved this! For transition from G-B-C-Cm what do you think of these fingerings? I found them to make a very easy transition (though they might not be formally "correct")? For the G barre CEA strings with index finger, 3rd fret E with middle finger. To transition to B keep the partial barre in place with index finger and make the chord with the middle and ring fingers. Make the C with middle finger, and the Cm then with the middle finger barring CEA strings. Makes it easy to then barre the 2nd fret "behind" the middle finger with the index finger in preparation for the next G chord. Your lessons are so good - you surprise me with your song choices for Ukulele sometimes!
@BernadetteTeachesMusic5 жыл бұрын
Yes Anthony! I approve of these fingerings and some of these are the fingerings I do when I’m not teaching. I wanted to do more comfortable/easier fingerings for this tutorials.

Look at you pretty lady .. all sparkly :) Considering that I am old fart and like old songs .. I actually do love this song! I know this song is old but I like, old, old! Haha! I struggle with B chords more than I do any other chord but I will give it a try. It's not so much making the chord shape, it is transitioning to it I have a problem with. I was actually just following an old tutorial you did for Love Me Tender, we actually sounded great playing together and then I spotted this new upload. Looking forward to giving this a go! Thank you Ms B! By the way, have you seen Maria Calfa-DePaul's version of this song on Ukulele? You need to!

Aimee! (Love this spelling, by the way) I hadn’t tackled this song and I was reflecting on where this channel’s audience was a year ago. There’s NO WAY I would have ever added a tutorial with two barred chords for such a popular song that so many people would want to do. Now there are so many video resources on this channel to help people through achieving barre chords
@aimeegreen69725 жыл бұрын
Bernadette Teaches Music So true! If it weren’t for hanging out on your channel for a while, I would never have been able to watch this tutorial and immediately recognize that playing all 4 chords barred would make for easier transitions. Noticing this is one thing, though; playing it was another. I’m so grateful for the knowledge that I’m taking from you and even more happy with your expertise to know that 2 barred chords is a challenge in itself, and that’s an improvement from just six months ago.
