Interesting to see your comment about the two Jews at 2.41. It isn't offensive. IT'S A JOKE. It's funny. You know? Humour. Why not start a joke with two black guys....it isn't instantly offensive, in the same way as a joke about two white guys isn't offensive. And there's your problem. You didn't hear the joke out. It's a funny joke. The problem with snowflakes these days is they deem anything they don't get as offensive. Humour doesn't compute in their brains. I had the fortunate opportunity of working with Bernard Manning in the early 80s. Gad was he funny. He also sang beautifully too. Did much work for charity. The best put down line he had was to a pain in the arse heckler. He wouldn't shut up. Bernard finished him off with the line "When you go home tonight on your bicycle, will you be careful not to scratch my Rolls Royce as you ride past!!!"

Best crack I ever heard from Bernard Manning at Quaffers in Bredbury, about 1990, when a woman kept interrupting him. "You've got all night to earn a living, dear, I've only got an hour."

Bernard used cruel humour that made us choke with laughter. Not acceptable today, but he made fun of everyone. Northern England used to a grim place, and cruel humour helped people to cope. He was very funny. If you were offended, then hard luck.

I used to often go to his 'Embassy Club'. Saw him countless times. If I remember correctly there used to be a Maccy D's quite close to it. That Maccy D's was fooking great. They used to do all kinds of their own stuff and at way under normal prices. You could get a burger that was a BigMac but instead of a slice of bread in between the patties you got a chicken burger. And, it was only £2.

When was he banned? When was he cancelled? He worked right up until he retired. He stopped appearing on TV at the same time that ITV stopped showing stand-up comedians in general and TV had always been a tiny part of his career which was running and appearing in the club he owned. There is a lot more talk about "cancel culture" than there is actual "cancelling" --- Netflix is full of comedy specials right now in which the comedians make their entire act revolve around "OMG I AM SO OFFENSIVE I AM NOT ALLOWED TO SAY THESE THINGS" --- and saying them anyway to a global audience and making a fortune.
