When you are picking up your yarn to do a stitch, you're yarning under. Yarning under really does make a difference in the stitch outcome. Nice blanket! I’ve done the moss stitch in many different items, but your beginning and end of the rows are different. I like the effect that the chain two at the end makes on the finished blanket. I’ll be using this one for my grandson’s blanket . And yes the yarn over or under does affect the outcome of the stitches appearance. If your consistent it doesn’t matter. The yarn under technique is used for ammigurimi I believe. Probably didn’t spell that right.

@aandjdusik3 жыл бұрын
It actually makes the stitches quite a bit different so if you were trying to obtain a specific gauge, you would have a hard time. I believe it makes the stitches shorter and tighter but I don't remember. Yarning over is the correct way.
@nhyde5673 жыл бұрын
Well, all the over/under or rather under/over that s/b over/over. Now I’ve got to make a swatch to see the difference in how the pattern works up. I too was confused while watching the video, but if using both under/over actually enhances the stitch definition I’ll go with that method, regardless if it’s ‘technically correct’ or not. After all, it’s just a stitch modification, not a big deal. Tomatoe, Tomato.

I’m new to crochet & tried using Bernat baby velvet to make a gift blanket, then belatedly discovered “worming.” So I gave up, but still have several skeins. Will this stitch prevent worming? Also, what size hook would be best? (I read somewhere that a tighter stitch helps prevent worming, but don’t want the blanket to be too heavy.)

I have never been bothered by worming, so I dont have much experience, but it sounds right. Moss stitch is a loose stitch though, so maybe try a little sample?

I loved the look of this pattern , it is so pretty. I started it last night and when I felt my second and third row were ‘curling’ i took it all out and started over thinking my foundation chain tension was way too tight. I started over this morning and did my foundation chain looser. I did the 70 chains and im now on my third row and trying to keep my tension steady and even. It’s harder than it looks. I crocheted as a child, my grandmother taught me but I haven’t done it in many many years so I consider myself a beginner. So, I’m on the third row and thinking I was either doing something wrong as it felt like i was curling again, i stopped to count my stitches. Both the second and third rows I found 61 stitches. I counted the “V” stitch into each hole in the row beneath. Am I doing it right? Thanks in advance. I want to make sure before I keep going and totally screw it up !
