Hi, I have a Bernina Bernette 56. I've only used it about 4 times in the 10 plus years I have had it. I have 3 questions (1) why on straight stitch is the needle not centred (i.e. it is to the left of the foot)? (2) what should I have the 3 dials set to for a normal run of the mill straight stitch (say to hem jeans)? (3) Why does the thread on the bottom of what I sew, clump together and make a terrible mess?
