The politician that literally was on our side before we even knew what we thought. Edit: Too many trolls. He isnt a communist or socialist (though both of those arent negatives and are not what you think they are, and you should really look into researching what those mean on Wikipedia) so much as a social democrat. He didn't sell out, he used the system best he could without corruption to fight for representation of the citizenry over corporations and the rich, and whether you like him or not, he is one of the very few willing to focus on science and facts over lobbyists and money. I wont be responding to uninformed troll replies. Trump lost, society wins, but the work doesn't stop.

We're still living with the remnants of the Red Scare and McCarthyism. The fear of Soviet communism, a legitimate fear at the time, was used to vilify any kind of social support. So, going against my better judgement, I'm going to respond. 1. Many European nations are socialist without being communist. In nations like Sweden, Norway, Canada and Germany, there is socialized healthcare, socialized education, etc, however, the free market still thrives in other parts of the economy. Businesses aren't state owned. The only things that are controlled by the state are things that businesses miss the main point of. Medicine is regulated by the government, because the goal of medicine should be to help people, not to make money. I like business. I think businesses can push innovations in certain economic sectors, while falling short in others. 2. Just because someone waves a Soviet flag does not invalidate the existence of more centrist socialism. That would be like saying that Formula 1 cannot exist, because some people prefer NASCAR.
@manictiger4 жыл бұрын
@@davidfrend So does that mean if I wave a Nazi flag, I'm not necessarily a racist ultra-nationalist? The Soviet Flag is the equivalent of laughing at all the tens of millions of people who's lives were snuffed out in the name of "Communism". While I support the 1st Amendment, I would consider it supremely ignorant and evil (willful or not) to wave that flag. It is EXACTLY like being a Neo-Nazi. Period.

Staying consistent with flawed ideology isn't a good thing just because it's consistent. Bernie's ideas sound good and that's why some like him, but put into action; they don't work at all. Why would he change his stance on crucial ideas like healthcare, fair taxation of poor *and* rich people? Why? Tell me. He hasn't changed his stance because your country has fallen behind on principles and human rights that actually help the oh so holy economy *as well as the working class* . Because your government is so corrupt and shilling to rich people, millions suffer, as they have done back in '97. Your strawman argument doesn't work - some ideas are universally beneficial, e.g. human rights, mutual respect and understanding. The only ones changing from that stance are racists and fascists. Not all development is positive. And Trump did a shit job on a global geopolitical scale, only strengthening China instead of weakening it. Oh and don't get me started on his Covid policies. Even if the term did apply that way, that doesn't mean it works out. There is no law saying uninformed people cannot vote and no guarantee that the minority is better informed the majority.
