@@berniestudio Hi bernie. One other question. I know the unladen weight is clocked at 20kg. With the rack and the bag installed does it count towards that weight requirement?
@berniestudio
@berniestudio 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what to right answer to that is, but based on my understanding the weight that you got your bike at and approved by LTA constitutes the unladen weight. If you look at the specs of almost ebikes for sale in SG it is already pushing 19+ kg, leaving very little buffer for us. The rack and the thermal bag technically should be considered as the load, which is 100kg, that includes rider, rack, thermal bag, and food items. I guess this question comes up because rack and bag is semi-permanent as we don’t remove them once fixed.

Yes I try not to use gear 5 too when the roads are wet, hard to control the bike. Like you said, I also use gear 3 or 4 for wet roads so I don't unintentionally pick up too much speed. Thanks for watching!

Hi Bernie, nice detailed review on ECO 2. May I know if changing of ebike handle bar is, legal or illegal?
@berniestudio
@berniestudio 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew! For cosmetic changes like handlebar I think it should not be a problem. I was initially thinking about changing it to a straight bar as well. I go by the rule of thumb of not adding to the overall weight of the bike, which according to LTA, unladen weight needs to be below 20kg.

@@berniestudio Foldable bicycle or Ebike is better for me? I stay the amk area
@berniestudio
@berniestudio Жыл бұрын
A foldable is good for a start as it is a smaller investment and you can take it with you to explore different zones. Regular bicycles are ok too if you don’t intend to do different zones. E-bikes are more expensive, advisable to get only if you are sure of this gig.

@berniestudio

The range varies between 30-40km, and about 4 hours. Factors affecting battery life during this time are - hilly terrain, using gear 5 all the time, long distances between merchant and customer.

Hey. Good morning Berni. Not stalker or pervert ya. Lol. I have been following you. Though u are a young rider like myself. You are much more insightful. I just got My second hand ecodrive. I haven't started. One question pls. I am a sucker in directions. I heard fp map dun actually guide u. So how I fo collect and then deliver. Like Google map. Turn left 500 meter. Turn right now. Blh blah bla. How you manage? Thanks
@berniestudio
@berniestudio Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for commenting and watching my vids. I'm going to assume that you were joking when you said "tho you are a young rider like myself". lol. Ok on to your question. The short answer is - there is no way around it. If you are doing delivery you have to get good at directions, whether you started bad or good. It is normal to think that you are a sucker at directions because you have not started yet. The key is to practice. Practice makes perfect, Repetition is the mother of skill ... etc etc :) The good news is that it isn't a hard skill to master. Some tips: 1/ DESK RESEARCH The first thing is to do some desk research - Take screenshots of your zone from Google Maps. There's a pattern to how Singapore roads are arranged in the heartlands (assuming you are going to work in the heartland zone) - there's a hierarchy to it. I'll use Jurong East zone as example --> Inter-zone roads are Boon Lay Way, Commonwealth Ave West, Toh Tuck Road, Bukit Batok Rd, Hillview, these link you in and out of your zone. They usually have unique names. --> Intra-zone roads come in two forms, the Avenues, and the Streets. Avenues link you between the streets, and streets will usually bring you to your customer destinations. This is a generalisation and some aves and streets have unique names too, but those are for you to discover ;) --> Centrals are usually where the MRT, Malls and Bus Interchanges reside. These are where you wait for jobs. 80% of the time you are moving from Central --> Ave --> Street and back. Bonus tip: You will also come to realise that the block numbers also coincide with the street names, but not all the time. For example, block numbers along Jurong East St 21 are in the 200's, 240, 246, etc (the first number in the street name "2"). You can guess the street name if you know the block number. Find the pattern in your zone. This will cut short the time when looking for block numbers. 2/ RECONNAISSANCE Before you start your first job, it is important to get out there and ride around, identifying the landmarks based on your desk research in step 1. This step allows you to find out road hazards, short cuts, PCN routes etc. 3/ JUST DO IT You are never ready until you are ready, so once you have done steps 1 and 2 you will build up some confidence to start. The real learning begins when you do the actual jobs. You will screw up the first few times, but keep at it and you will be your zone expert in no time. Gradually you will not need to rely on Google Maps as much, and your stress level will start to reduce. Apps I use: Google Maps (bicycle mode), and OneMap (this app shows the block numbers very clearly, helped me many times) For downtown and the more mature estates, those are messier, so it's good to start in heartlands first. Hope this helps! Bernie

Hi! It depends, since this is a job where you can decide how much you want to work. I usually work lunch and dinner times, so 11am-2pm, and 5-8pm, and on average it’s about $10-$15/hr, depending on the available quests or incentives. @@roslee7 Hi! I'm doing delivery in Jurong East area. I've not tried delivering in Novena zone, but in theory I would assume that it will be good, because there's a good mix of commerce as well as affluent residential, which might increase chances of tips. Even the fee boosts are higher in that area for FP and Deliveroo. I found a link to a fellow delivery rider who did a video on Novena delivery that you can check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ7ah5iJh65_qc0 - his name is SAB. The only way to find out is to try it out for yourself. Do it for at least a full week then you will get a feel for it. :)
