That happened to me not long after I bought my Bernina 750. Whirring sound but no sewing, complete panic, phoned my dealer and when she asked if I had activated the bobbin accidentally and yes I had, believe me, the relief was huge. Felt like an idiot but she assured me that it happened often enough to be called a common issue. So I was nodding along with your diagnosis Gary.

A bit off topic my British Bradbury machine long bobbin hand wind machine has to be wound backwards to wind the bobbin, it took me a while to figure even with the manual to look at. Old machines when people forget to put the presser foot down and sew at high speed for very short time :-)) JAMB like cement When I test machines I always use kitchen paper towel so if I get a material jamb in the needle plate it is easier to remove the paper rather than cotton. My wife's electronic 10y old Brother detects if the presser foot has not been dropped and will not sew. I have quite a few hand wind machines and some of the very old machines you wind in the opposite direction to the Singers lots of Fun and Games using different machines. I have a Singer VS3 ? 1891 that has a very old shuttle carrier without the extra finger will snap your thread in a heartbeat if you stop and start to sew again with the needle stroke in the wrong position; the top thread gest caught in the back of the shuttle. Alter modified shuttle carrier had an extra finger to stop this, then later 28k machine improved to make it better. Thanks for the video, something else to watch for in the future. all the best

I've had exactly that issue with an early electronic Janome. What looks like an error code is simple a code saying the spool pin is engaged.

With older Berninas it was possible to wind the bobbin and sew at the same time. If I had a newer model I would not be expecting that this feature was removed.

This happen to me on a Viking Jade. Oops! 😂 Oh, and the bobbin won't wind unless the presser foot is in the needle down position.
