Genuinely useful and practical lesson as usual. I've played for over 20 years, and this KZbin channel provides some of the best exercises to increase and/or maintain any skill level. The techniques shown on this channel can be used in ANY genre of music.

I think that these types of tutorials are what KZbin needs for newer guitar players! He explains very clearly and shows the techniques and steps to do and how to do them. Thanks for the video man, it helps a ton for learning guitar!

I am so jealous and respect you guys who play fast alternate picking! I play guitar for 18 years and i've practice ALOT, but i can't get my alternate picking above 135-140 bpm... I really consider trying your patreon lesson to see if it's gonna make a difference! And you're such an enjoyable person to look to. You have a very positive energy!

This is a fantastic exercise and really helps with organising your downward/upward pickslanting given that each string change comes on an upstroke, then a down stroke etc
@pietruyssinck4 жыл бұрын
I do a variation on this exercise. Where you shift down a half step after every run, I change mode. I start with the ionian shape like you do, then I do myxolydian, dorian, aeolian, phrygian, locrian, lydian, ionian, ... Actually, the pattern shifts one string up each time. And after 7 iterations, I have descended half a step as well.

Cool vid Bernth. I've just come looking for something to help me speed up/control the speed of my picking hand and while drilling this pattern I noticed a distinct correlation between the speed, accuracy and economy of motion compared to the position of my hand relative to the string I'm playing. I'm guilty of 'reaching' for strings instead of moving my picking hand anchor, and now I see that the further I reach, the less economy of motion I have, which leads to slower and less accurate picking. So came back to watch your vid and see that you reposition your hand for each string - not a revelation in itself, but it confirms to me how important it is to have my picking hand in the correct place for the string I'm playing in order to get the best results from the least effort. Thanks man! I have something very tangible to work on....
