Its context. He explicitly says in the video showing that you dont need to tour or be a professional musician with an unobtanium level guitar that is super pricey. So with that being said, the context of “only” here would be in comparison to those $10,000+ types, not to what others in lesser positions can afford for themselves.

Probably higher end for this video, but my main guitar since the early 2000s has been my LTD EX-400BD. I paid $800ish for it new. Anyone who has owned or played mid range LTD from this era knows they were exceptional quality instruments with high end features like EMG active pickups. 5-6 years ago I also picked up a BC Rich Mockingbird Contour Deluxe new on sale for $200. Deal of the century! Even MSRP it would have been a deal. The Hot Hex pickups aren't the greatest, but cranked through a tube amp in a real world setting, only a snob could complain any. The BC Rich I originally bought for when my kids are old enough, but I find myself playing it a lot until they are ready to learn.

My absolute fav guitar to play & record with at home is my old "starter" guitar which is actually a $200 Ibanez Gio (shhhh! I removed the logo from the headstock 🤫😆). I wanted to learn how to work on customizing guitars myself a few years back, but I was afraid to fuck with my nicer RG right off the bat. So dusted off my old Gio & replaced the stock pups with some inexpensive Dragonfire "Crusaders" (Seymour Invader clones). It sounded so good that I continued on & replaced the nut, the tuner machines, and then I just blocked the garbage stock trem because I couldn't afford a decent bridge. What I ended up with is an inexpensive, SUPER-comfortable ride that just f'ing rips! It sounds fantastic & just feels perfect in my hands. Maybe it's the super-slim neck / maybe I'm just sentimental because I cut my teeth on it, idk? But while my actual RG is a far superior instrument in every way, I find myself reaching for that old Gio most of the time. I friggin love that guitar!

I've been playing Elixirs for the past 14 years or so and I can still count the broken strings on one hand. More like half a hand. They are that reliable. And they still sound great. If they started sounding at all bad or pitchy, I would immediately change them and would probably never break a single string....but I hate changing Floyds, and they sound great, so I break em once every 4 years or 5 years....it's that rare....even on my super light 9-46 Jackson. I actually just broke my first .009 Optiweb. I like all 3 varieties, I think the Poly is the longest lasting and the Nano is the most original. They all work though, it's basically like tonewood...a tiny bump of EQ and they are all the same. Play what looks and feels good and use the GNOBS for makin good sounds come out.

This is counter to a free society and human liberty. And what really gets me is how they have successfully conditioned people to accept this, to see it as good. Stockholm syndrome is very real.
@hardyhardyha57672 жыл бұрын
@@51MontyPython Sorry, but you're understanding of what's going on here has been influenced by propaganda. We don't have anything close to modern day gulags here. The reason our country had such a tough time with COVID restrictions was because our federal government dropped the ball and left it to the state governments to decide how to handle the virus. This led to our states scrambling to figure out how to deal with the problem. This led to a lot of politically charged bullshit since different states are controlled by different political parties. I live in Victoria where we were in lockdown the longest. People will make it out that we were under some kind of tyranny because of that. Truth is though, our lockdowns were only in effect to give the federal government enough time to implement the vaccine program, which they also dropped the ball on and took way longer to get done than they should've. Our state Premier stated that once we reach X amount of vaccinations, lockdowns would completely end and wouldn't be used again. Lo and behold we've long since reached that target. We're up and running and haven't been in lockdown since. Nobody is being taken off the streets and thrown into any gulags here. The only thing close to people being taken are protesters who took things too far and broke the law, of which there were only a handful. The vast majority of people who protested lockdowns and vaccine mandates were allowed to protest as much and as loudly as they liked. They even carted a a hangman's noose out to the front of Parliament saying they were going to hang the Premier.

I have a no name 5 string bass I bought as backup 25 years ago for 150 bucks. I've played festivals with it and recorded with it. Great little cheap bass.

That was AWESOME!!! really felt like I was with hanging-out with you (but NOT playing with you - the audience would have grabbed me off the stage and thrown me out of the whole Venue, but just wait a little while - I'll be ready for them soon...HaHaHa). I think you're the best, and you are a truly fantastic teacher. I'm so very sorry that I can not yet be in your Patreon VIP group, as last month I bought a "Fender Stratocaster - American Professional 2" and I told my wife that this will be the LAST guitar related purchase of any kind this year (2021) - I also purchased a Schecter back in January. Note: Be careful what you promise your wife (especially if she does all the banking). -Greg

I have expensive Gibson guitars and high end Epiphone guitars.....but one of my favorite guitars is my 350 dollar BC Rich Kerry King V. It plays great but the BC Rich pickup wasn't cutting it.....so i had a Gibson Dirty Fingers pickup put in the bridge.....and now it sounds great. Its a joy to play! I left the BC Rich pickup in the neck position for now as i actually doesn't sound bad at all. Its a keeper.
