Thank you very much for the lovely tour. I'm on the other side of the world (Tasmania, actually) and as I have no hope of getting over to dear old England, a film like this is a great gift. Berry Pomeroy Castle has been a subject of fascination for me since I read the This England article from the 1970s about England's Haunted Castles, when I was a little girl.

I can confirm, having been in there at night that this place is extremely haunted.! A small group of us went there late one night scaled the wall and went into the main building. Heard what sounded like horses galloping all around us, then saw a blue flame flouting above us! Then a very high pitched scream was what made us run like little girls!

Having lived in Berry Pomeroy I can tell you it is not just the castle. The whole village is a bit weird. On many nights of the year a thick fog would appear starting about a quarter of a mile outside the village. This fog was so solid & had so clear an edge that it was possible to stand on the pavement putting my arm in & out of the fog seeing my hand disappear & reappear out of the vapour. It fascinated me. The castle feels extremely creepy at night. Like turn straight around & walk back up the hill as fast as possible to get out of there creepy. The castle was never besieged so the story of the Pomeroy brothers riding their horses off the top of the cliff is nothing but a local legend.

I have visited twice, in 2001 and in 2017. It was still worth watching the whole video today. On my first visit I was with my ex-husband and he was a very intuitive person with a strong sixth sense. Back in those days visitors could go down into the dungeon in St Margaret’s Tower, and we went down. It was pitch black. It is a pity that access now seems restricted. I knew a little about the history and lore of Berry Pomeroy as I had done some reading before our trip to the UK, but my ex knew nothing about any of that as he wasn’t a reader. After our visit we went to a gift shop on the premises where I bought a souvenir book about the ghosts of Berry Pomeroy. Later as we were riding away I asked my ex if he had sensed anything. It was pretty disturbing when he said yes, while we were down in the dungeon he had seen an image in his mind of a young woman in pale clothing, with long loose hair, screaming and covering her face with her hands. That is exactly what people who have claimed to see the White Lady see, only they apparently actually see her and don’t just get a mental image. He had not had a chance to look at my book on the ghosts, but later when I opened it and showed him the artist’s impression of the White Lady, he said yes, that was what he saw! Scary stuff. I am just glad we never saw the Blue Lady as she is allegedly a harbinger of doom.

Used to live in Torquay. I didn't dare go down into the dungeon. I knew about the ghosts. We had one at the hotel I worked at a Grey Lady. Experienced some strange shit I can tell you.

It’s an interesting place. When I lived in Devon, I visited a few times. The first visit was the most interesting from a ghosts point of view. I had my wife with me and I hadn’t told her anything about the history because I didn’t want to scare her. Anyway, on a nice bright sunny Saturday morning we visited the castle and when we got inside the gatehouse, my wife suddenly flat refused to go down into the chapel area. She insisted that we should leave. I myself felt nothing and I definitely would say that of the two of us, I’m usually the more spiritually sensitive one, but on this occasion, she was adamant that there was a bad vibe there and nothing could persuade her to go back. Imagine how much trouble I was in later when I told her that the castle was supposedly England’s most haunted! I don’t think she’s ever forgiven me. Anyway, an interesting experience. It doesn’t prove anything but it gave me something to think about that day.

I love visiting castles so much, and I kind of regret not visiting more when I grew up in England. The entrances are especially interesting with those slots in the side and roof for hot liquid, swords and arrows. It is quite amazing the thought process that went into defending an attack, isn't it?

The ghosts are actually ancestors of mine. I can trace my family back to the Pomeroy family. It's kinda crazy I really want to visit someday. The family was initially from France then the king of England Gave them land I believe. I can't rem everything perfectly though.

Although we have other ancestors with more happy history. Yeah found out I have alot of royalty and nobility in my family history.

@@lisahastings2927 you should look into the Pomeroy history if you're ever board it's a bit tragic though and sometimes just straight up strange. 1 story is about 2 brothers who literally jumped off the castle on horseback in full set of armor because they didn't want to be killed by the people attacking. I'm pretty sure those were also my ancestors it's so strange. I really want to go and see this castle so bad honestly I just find it cool that I'm related to them and it's tracable. That side of the family was on my grandmothers side. I'm greatful my grandfather went back all those generations on all sides of the family.

Sorry for rambling I just really love history especially stuff about my family. I think I might have some relation to the royal family in England I could be wrong though, but I think the Pomeroy family had a daughter or something that married into that family since they were close friends with the king at some point. I'll have to look at documents I have really want to find out if it's connected to the current queen at all. That would just be so cool I know the relation wouldn't matter but would be a cool fact to know.

I bet the place is haunted. Most of these places had people die. Very cool video to show during Halloween time my friend. 13:04 is dark and broken. That shows some darkness there. Very nice. 👍👍👍
