I've seen people claiming this game has some metroidvania elements. How accurate is that claim?

You can go back to previously completed stages to access new areas with the abilities you unlock, but it's a stretch to say it's a metroidvania. It's more like Mega Man X in that way I guess.

People these days seem to casually call anything a metroidvania even if it only has elements loosely resembling the genre, people have even tagged Elden Ring as a metroidvania on Steam. 😆 Knowing that the game resembles Mega Man X in structure also makes me even more excited to play it. 👍
