Can anybody explain to me what are those black blob monsters who spawned from Casca?

Basically the brand on Casca's chest can manifest demons/evil spirits in an enviroment of negative energy. For example the torture room manifested spirits of despair, fear, death etc. The black blobs in this scene specifically spawned from the blood of the tortured in the torture room. Guts also has this same brand which is why every night he has to protect himself against packs of demons since they can manifest almost anywhere. Sunlight deters them.
