Why do we always see these things after they're done and gone? I'm crying for someone I didn't even know, and crying for a character whose happy ending I always dreamed to see, and that maybe is now lost forever
@Spike22763 жыл бұрын
@@fellipefranca9729 hey man that's normal, you didn't know Miura but you connected to him like so many people here did, his story was dark and somber but i think most on the fact that Berserk is not a world devoid of hope, maybe that's why you cared It's almost strangely fitting that Guts' story won't end, the struggler will forever be so and we will have him forever frozen in time as a man fighting causality in his desperate struggle to change fate

My friend said he got into Berserk via his grandfather, who served in WWII as a Spitfire pilot but befriended a Japanese veteran when he worked in Japan at a bank, someone who would later get him into manga via interest from his own kids. They later both found Berserk in their 70s during the 90s and eagerly awaited a English translation of the 97 anime so that westerners would get to enjoy the epic and its reptuation spread across the world. The granddad was far what you'll expect from the average Berserk fan. He grew up during the labour movements in the Black Country region of Britain during the early 20th century and fought in the greatest war of all time. Yet someone from such a vastly different social and cultural background still saw how peak this story is.

I'm so fucking devastated. This story meant so much to me and my brother. We felt like we had nobody to talk to, and struggled with the trauma from our childhood. Despite being close as brothers, we never really discussed it, and had trouble becoming close to people out of fear of being hurt again, even with each other. A casual conversation about berserk, slowly turned into a moment where we both began to open up to each other, talking about what we each thought the manga was trying to say. I don't think we ever would have talked about it, nor began the healing process together if it wasn't for Berserk. It was like a cryptic code, where we could talk about how we actually felt, under the guise that we were just talking about the themes of the manga. As we grew older, we refused to read a chapter unless we were together, and would wait days or weeks until our work/school schedules lined up. As crushing as it is that we'll never read Berserk in it's totality, we're infinitely grateful towards Kentaro Miura for creating such an amazing work of art that helped us heal. Even if it never received a proper ending, the fact that Berserk means so much and has helped so many people is a testament to the masterpiece he created, despite being uncompleted. There will never be another Kentaro Miura, his work was that great. Edit: Wow, this is the most likes I've ever gotten. I wrote this out just to vent, and wasn't expecting this much attention. Thank you guys for the support. Today was the first time I got to see my brother since the news broke. We were bawling our eyes out in the car together. But showing him the likes, and seeing how many people either sympathize with or relate to our experience is a unique and therapeutic feeling, since we've only been able to talk about it amongst ourselves, outside of mental health professionals. Thank you guys, and thank you Kentaro Miura for bringing all of us together.

Im going to miss Kentaro, but I’m so happy he got to share his gift to the world. I don’t know very much about him but one of my dreams was meeting an author who influenced me and he was one of the few still alive, sadly that dream will never come true. When Griffith said “Men live and die by their dreams, but long after they’ve been abandoned, they still smolder deep in men’s hearts. Some see nothing more than life and death. They are dead. For they have no dreams.” he meant it. One of my dreams is to write a good story some day that will impact others the way Berserk has impacted me, it’s difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that he’s gone but I’m grateful he had the courage, the patience, the drive, and talent to share this beautiful story. It’s sad that while anticipating another Berserk chapter I never realized that Kentaro’s life was nearing the last chapter.

Whenever I felt like giving up and couldn't handle the pain anymore I would remind myself of what Guts had went through and it would lit once again the fire in me to endure all of it and continue treatment.
