There is no greater mc than Bert Parks..there was a time when the spirit and innocence of Miss America really meant something...I am so happy taht the pageant is finally back in Atlantic City where it belongs...let there be a new generation of people who look to Miss America for all the good that the femine spirit holds...dont give in and leave AC anymore...and please let "There She Is" be played again...it speaks for itself...

Bert Parks the emcee of the Miss America Pageant from 1955 to 1979 (The Miss America Organization Fired Him in 1979) Kylene Barker Miss America 1979 was the last Miss America to win a pageant he hosted, until 1990 when Bert Parks was invited back to the Miss America Pageant to sing “There She Is” as the pageant celebrated its 70th anniversary. In September, 1990 when Marjorie Judith Vincent was crowned. Bert Parks died on: February 2, 1992. What indelible memories we have of him singing "There She Is Miss America" and "Look At her, She's Our Miss America"

The first time I ever watched Miss America was in 1991, when Marjorie Judith Vincent was crowned. I just recently immigrated from the Philippines at that time. I was so moved when Bert Parks serenaded the former Miss Americas. How I enjoyed the talent completion with Marjorie who played Chopin, Miss South Carolina’s marimba, someone did a ventriloquist, Miss Iowa sang an opera. These women are so talented, smart and beautiful. The best rendition of this song was at the beginning of this program when it was sung in a more upbeat tone. Thank you for uploading this video.

So, this is where the phrase comes from? I just came across a 1982 episode of The Price Is Right, and the lady who wins had either just become engaged or was very recently married. She wins her particular showcase, and Bob stands there while the couple are celebrating their win. He goes on to say, "There they are, Mr. and Mrs. (Lastname)." Years ago, before my grandma passed, when she would see me (or any of her grandsons) the first thing she would always say was, "There he is, Mr. America!" So, yeah. Never heard about this Bert Parks until Bob Barker proclaimed something in a way that just completely mirror that which my grandma would also say to her grandkids so frequently.

This was also the appearance in which Mr. Parks proved the decision to fire him was an incredibly good one. During the broadcast, he started an out-of-nowhere, incoherent rant about comedians -- and his disgust with the dirty language they use. He continued to blather as he was escorted off the stage. A true professional.

No one after Bert Parks would be the same. No one could sing the song the way he did. I used to watch it every year, until they took him off, hardly watched it again afterwards. Felt the same way about "The Price is Right", after they took Bob Barker off. After a while I have learned to like Drew Carey. It's on the TV where I work out at the fitness center that I belong to. I don't believe he would lip sync it, he loved singing it so well.

This video is NOT him actually singing the song, rather this video is him lip synching after announcing the former Miss America's who attended the 70th anniversary pageant in 1990. However, if you get ahold of the video of the pageant, Phil Collins asks Bert live on air to sing the song, serenading Marjorie Vincent after she won, and he DOES actually sing the song live just as he had for so many years as emcee. Watching the video in entirety, its clear that the above version is a recording.
