Lambretta - Electric Starter

Here i want to share my project on how to make an electric starter for your old Lambretta.
I am using Vespa starter ring which i reduced to 80 teeth and Vespa PK125 starter motor, used Indian flywheel and almost all scrap metals. I borrowed my Yamaha NVX155 scooter's battery and it's a bit weak but still do the job.

Hi. Great work. How did you reduce the Vespa ring gear to 80 teeth? How many teeth did you remove and how do you keep the ring round in shape? Martin

hi Martin, thanks. so i cut the vespa starter ring from 93 to 80 teeth and weld it. then i manually shape it to get around 155mm internal diameter. and it perfectly fit under the flywheel cover

great work , but the question is it 12 volt ? how can we convert the electric system from 6 volt to 12?

i use bgm stator which is already 12V. most of electronic kits available for Lambretta now using 12V. so attached with 12V rectifier so it will be no problem to recharge

BGM are overpriced, by a generic Indian lambretta 12v conversion stator. Had mine for 20 years. Buy kytronic ignition module it has 15 settings for £90. Variotronic again over priced nonsense.

Penempatan starter perlu diperhitungkan ke bang?

ya bang supaya tidak terlalu jauh dan terlalu rapat dengan gigi starter pada flywheel

Hmmm, sounds like higher wattage starter motor needed. JUst like KTM 300 EXC did.

it doing great, just need big battery. for the test i run it with my auto scooter battery. now run perfectly with 12v 9ah yuasa 12N9L
