I ended my first year of college with a 1.7 GPA. after taking some time off, I came back to school full time last August. A year later and I have been able to turn that 1.7 GPA into a 3.2. Here's a the strongest piece of advice I can offer to someone in a similar situation: If an activity isn't productive, and you spend a significant amount of time doing it, quit it. You can try to lie to yourself and say you're gonna "scale back", but you're always going to find it harder to get work done when there's that activity you really want to get to. Whether its video games, TV, KZbin, substances, etc, you're going to either consciously or subconsciously speed through your work, and your results will suffer. Treat whatever this activity is like an addiction. For me, it was video games. Used to play them every spare second I could. I asked myself whether school or videos games was more important, and I haven't played one since.
