Dawanna Killer13 I have micro locs and I’m super scared of build up so I used (purified people vouch for distilled though) water, rose water, and coconut oil. And then I just oil my scalp once a week after I wash my hair. You should moisturize your hair based on what your hair needs though. Some people with color treated hair would probably moisturize their hair differently.

@BeSpiffyBeYou5 жыл бұрын
How far are you in your journey? When you’re in the teenage stage and you get a retwist... it may not look how you want it to look because once you retwist and wherever it is budding, it will poof back out.

BeSpiffyBeYou wow thanks for the fast reply and I’m only 7weeks In, I’ve been doing things fine with my locs like spraying it with water and oil but my lock Loction did tell me not to wash it for a couple of months so That when I wash them it won’t unlock, I’m trying to have those thic nice curly long dreads but I feel like I’m going to the wrong loction
@BeSpiffyBeYou5 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! You should DEFINITELY wash your hair after 3 weeks, 4 weeks max of starting your locs. Never wait super long. To have healthy locs, you have to have an healthy clean scalp. You can help prevent your locs from unraveling when washing by putting on a stocking cap of some sort. If you’re not comfortable with the current loctician or person who does your hair, definitely find someone who you trust and does your locs the way you like

The person that started my locs did an awesome job; but she moved. I found a new person, but I guess because my locs are so frizzy and my top is not locking, she told me not to wash my hair. I just finished twisting my hair this morning. I have never washed my hair that often before. I also don’t get as much build up in my hair because I don’t use a lot of product in my hair. I have had my break off before for failing to keep it moisturized. As long as my hair is hydrated and I eat healthy, it will grow like crazy. I used a leave in conditioner and coconut oil and Jamaican castor oil in my hair. Occasionally, I’ll use some Shea butter with essential oils, coconut and castor oils mixed in it. My hair thrives on that as long as I keep it detangled.

Detergent is used for cleaning build up. I use it in my shampoo mixed with lemon, ACV, detergent (and Dr.Bronners peppermint oil when I have some.) diluted with water and this keeps my hair clean. I wouldn’t recommend it too much because it can cause stripping and marrying. However, when you’ve been putting a lot of products in it I definitely wouldn’t deter someone from it if build up is an issue for you.

Thanks for this video. My grey hair is dyed with henna leaves which give it a reddish brown color. Once I wash my hair, I have to reapply the dye. This is what makes me wash my hair every 2-3 months. My edges are receding or balding probably due to age, so I apply black castor oil like daily.

Hello, I just started my locs again with fresh healthy hair, and I wanted to know how are you supposed to retwist your locs? Do you recommend palm rolls where they put the loc between both hands and rub them together, or do you recommend twisting the loc one way in the direction of your curl pattern? Thank you for your response.

Your locs are suppose to always be retwisted going ONE direction of how your hair grows, for every single loc. I palm roll my locs and I only retwist the roots and not the full length of each loc. However, you can retwist and palm roll the full length of the locs, if you experience frizziness or unraveling. I hope I answered your question.
