@bespokeaddict6 жыл бұрын
This video shows me taking the shoes beyond original shape, yes stretching is removed, I could have stopped there, however, I wanted to achieve a more refined & sculpted shape, the length is similar to original, it is width & height which is now greatly reduced & more sculpted than original, it is possible to go much further, I will be demonstrating with more advanced shrinking videos soon.

Thank you for sharing your great knowledge and experience. I've watched your other videos too and you're so interesting to listen to - there's just nothing else around like this at all. Quick question: I'm size 8.5 and therefore have size 8 shoe trees. If I tried this with the size 8 tree, would the shoes shrink down too much?

Thank you for your kind words, you might get away with doing vamp area only, if edges are treated, yes, shoes will end up small, you would need to pack heel area with sheets of paper etc.

Hi, Mr. Morrison. I heard that you can also use heat across the vamp to get rid of creases, but it seems that shrinking the shoes would actually cause creases. So, I'm guessing that, like you mentioned, you have to spread the heat on not only the vamp but the surrounding area as well. If so, which areas should you apply heat to?

This series is amazing! A few years ago, my coworker found a pair of leather boots on ebay for super cheap...It was because 1 had been the store display and the leather looked awful on that 1 shoe. She didn't feel like putting the labor in, so she offered them to me (free!) and here I am! I'd like to get the leather down to bare, sand them both, and then dye them both a darker color (I'm not confident I could make the damaged one look like the other, so I'm going to do them both). This series has been a great help showing me what's possible, even without prefessional equipment (don't get me wrong, I love watching cobblers take apart and reassemble messed up boots, but they have way cooler toys to get those jobs done and that's just not achievable for me), so really, thank you. :)

I bought a pair of Grenson loafers from a charity shop the other day that are desperately floppy and in need of this treatment. I've never tried it before and I don't have the proper Grenson shoe trees (£47 to buy a pair of those) but hopefully I can work with the cheap "springy" shoe trees I've got. Trouble is they really are soft/floppy all over. All I can do is give it a go. Honestly, charity shops these days do not miss a trick, they were priced at £10, which is a perfectly reasonable price I guess, but the only people on the planet who would pay £10 for such a sad looking pair of shoes are people who (a) know exactly what Grensons are worth, and (b) know that they can be restored.

It is possible to restore real shockers, have you seen some of the ruined bespoke pairs I have posted on Instagram @bespokeaddict ?

I've never used Instagram but I will certainly have a look to see what you've been up to, you do some interesting stuff. I'll sign up later. Annoyingly the elastic straps under the straps are broken (failed to spot that in the shop!) and there's a bit of loose stitching there too - not really practical to repair due to it being inaccessible without unstitching the straps. Still, good practice if nothing else.

If you search bespokeaddict in Google a huge amount comes up, you will not need to sign up to Instagram to have a quick look
