I've been making music casually for the past 6 years or so and I have to say, you have by far the best tips I've ever come across. Half the time people just keep repeating the same concepts, recycling knowledge and what not but this stuff you put out is genuinely new to me and I've been on fl studio the whole time. Put it on me being lazy and not seeking out the information or whatever but still, very impressive!

Several of those were new to me and now I want to try them, especially that transient shaper. Thanks for the heads up! edit: I'd never appreciated the fact that sidechain compression of bass parts does more than just control the peaks when kick and bass overlap... avoiding phase cancellation is a benefit as you mention. Seeing those phasey-looking waveforms on the s(M)exoscope make it so apparent when there's too much overlap.
@MrSuperfuzz7910 ай бұрын
TDR Nova is absolutely fantastic and the quality for a free product is amazing . Most of Tokyo Dawn’s products are great. Kotelnikov is another great free compressor from them. 👍

This video would not have been complete without Patcher. Such a powerful tool and one of my favorite plugins to use for sound design. Throw a couple built-in plugins from FL Studio (FL Keys + Flex), route through individual EQs, route Keys through a Fruity Convolver reverb, route Flex through some Gross Beat....and you have something comparable to Omnisphere.

absolutely fantastic free compressor that is great on acoustic drums is Blockfish. it gets overlooked a lot because it's one of those free plugins from a company that only has 3 or 4 plugins, and if you don't use it in "complex mode" it doesn't sound nearly as good.
