Can’t wait for EUC manufacturer’s to start innovating in this size range again. I want a mini V12!

I’ve been waiting patiently for this review! The InMotion V8s is my first wheel, and even though I now have 3 other wheels (these guys have a way of multiplying quickly!) I still ride mine on a daily basis. Pound for pound this wheel has amazing range and just enough speed to get around at commuter bicycle speeds. I still ride my V8s because because this wheel is so nimble, it keeps my balance true, and my senses sharp. I do have a few long hills on my commute, and so far, no overheat problems in the Pacific Northwest. I can squeak 32 miles out of a charge with conservative riding (165-170lb rider). The only thing I would change is the pedals, and switch the stock pedals with some Nylo Noves (if you can actually get the darn things) I’ll likely keep my V8s for life (after a few battery pack replacements I’m sure!) I'll be sure to keep it wheel! ◉

Hi! Im around 200lbs weight, would it suit me too as a beginner?
@ChrisH0Y2 жыл бұрын
@@popeyepanther4519 I'm sure the V8s would make a great starter wheel for anyone - due its light weight, it can take drops better and sustain less damage than heavier wheels (see 7:09). This is why I chose the V8s as my learner wheel AFTER I got my InMotion v12. Adam suggests max weight of the rider to be 100kg (220 lbs) see 7:30 - so, I would think you should be fine. I would keep in mind that the heavier weight the wheel has to carry, the more easier you should be on it (easy acceleration, don't drop off curbs or stress the axle, take it slow on hills, and lower your speed) There has been times after a grocery trip with a loaded pack, or near the end of a extra long ride, that I got off the wheel, popped up the trolley handle, and walked up steep hills. The V8s usually comes with a protective crash jacket, I would use it in learning and after. Your wheel will thank you. My V8s has a EUC Bodyguard, with a red stripe. It really does the trick, and looks cool.

I got mine for cheap back in August as my first wheel ($500+ cheaper than a 16xs). It’s been a great experience, and I’m sure I’ll be upgrading soon. I’m much bigger than your recommendation (100 kg) and it’s been fine, it’s plenty zippy. I’ve loved how easy it is to live with. Riding to the commuter rail to go downtown or to stores around my suburban house is easy-peasy. It’s small, I throw it in a cart if I’m grocery shopping or trolley around if I’m just picking up a few things. I’ll continue to use it for those purposes even after I get something faster for more fun. This thing is still plenty fun, but I can easily put it wherever I want one handed which would be much harder with something 70+ pounds.

Very good review Sir! Riding a V8F as my second (third?) wheel and I really love it. I bought it for my wife, as she is a small person and the larger wheels would be too heavy for her, but I ended up using it myself more than I use the other (bigger) wheels I have. I love to ride it a bit in the evening when I come from work and I am too tired to wrestle with a larger bear. I already put over 500 km into it. The only difference compared with V8S is the smaller battery size/range, for the V8F I get only close to 30 km riding near to max speed (80+ kg person). But that make V8F even lighter and easier to handle, and if you occasionally need range, then you use a bigger wheel. I would like to mention that it is quite easy to add a BT adapter to it, you can buy a receiver for two bucks on aliexpress, the quality is not great, but for a wheel you don't need Hi-Fi. Also, one peculiarity with it is the fact that the screws on one side of the wheel will open/unscrew while riding (CAUTION!), and they need periodical tightening, while the screws on the other side are always tighten to max and you can't move them a micron (there are 12 screws on each side holding the motor lids, there was no loctite or thread lock on them, and I didn't add any, yet, but this phenomenon does happen, I don't know why, maybe some gyroscopic or coriolis effect due to wheel rotation, screws on one side tend to rotate left, and unscrew, while on the other side they tend to rotate right and tighten themselves - this is real, not a joke, you need to add thread lock, or tighten them every 100-200km or so - edit: this is easy to do by lifting the small lid under the foot plates, you don't need to take the wheel apart).

Honestly I've been commuting on the V5F since February (my first wheel) in Paris, and it's very nice... but the top 25Kmh and max ~20Km range are _barely_ enough to, say, visit a friend who's at the other side of the city. And most streets in Paris are limited to 30Kmh for cars, so if you're in a streets without bycicles tracks, you're slower than the cars, which I experienced to be dangerous even if it's not by a big margin. So I wanted to upgrade just a bit and the the V8S seemed to be the perfect answer while watching your video! Pretty much the same wheel but with just the upgrade of top speed and range I needed, a better trolley, and all the same features I'm used to and like a lot on the V5F! But then I looked at the price, and saw around ~1.5k Euros to get one in France too. As your pointed out, for the same price I could get a KingSong 16X which boasts, at least on paper, legit twice the speed and range upgrades (and allegedly better weight tolerance, which is nice since I'm 96Kg and often wears a heavy backpack). I got my V5F for 550 Euros, the difference in prices with the V8S compared to the gain in performances just feels ridiculous, so I feel a bit lost... =/

I think there is passive battery balancing. At 4:17 into the video, looking at the BMS board on the battery pack you see 19 pads labeled B1 to B19, plus B- and B+ for a total of 21 wires, that would be used to independently sense all 20 voltages from the 20 pairs of cells in the 20S2P pack.This would allow for passive balancing logic that would have 20 voltage triggered switches that enable (relatively grounded) resistors to hold fully charged cell pairs at a fixed voltage while the other cell pairs continue to charge, until all cell pairs were fully charged, and all 20 switches triggered. My V8F has always had a max charged voltage of 83.6 volts, which would translate into the balancing switches limiting voltage to 4.18 volts per cell pair for a total of 83.6 volts. On the V8F BMS board, those 19 pads are labeled TB1 to TB19, while B- and B+ remain the same.
@slick1908 Жыл бұрын
Ofcourse there is balancing. Every Inmotion wheel does have balancing
@rcgldr Жыл бұрын
@@slick1908 - V5F BMS doesn't have any resistors that could be used for balancing so no balancing is confirmed for V5F. V8F has 1K ohm resistors and if there is passive cell balancing (full charge), the resistance is too high and related current too low (4.2 mA max) to provide enough time for any significant balancing before a cell pair reaches overvoltage and the V8F shuts off charging. It's possible that the V8F balances during a very long (8+ hour) and slow discharge from 84 volts down to 82.5 volts, if left connected to a charger. Once down to 82.5 volts, it reenables charging and starts another 8+ hour cycle. So far no one has been able to confirm if the V8F balances during that long discharge cycle.

The original Inmotion V8 EUC is the biggest selling wheel of all time internationally. The V8S adds more range and bigger pedals. I have a V8F and upgraded to a V11. I recently pulled out the V8F to visit some community garage sales. It was such a great choice. It's easy to maneuver in tight spaces even when using the trolley handle to shop and it's light enough to carry without straining. I often put it behind my driver's seat when i'm taking my kids to appointments and ride it while I wait. You may outgrow this wheel as you progress but you won't want to get rid of it.

Oh I should mention that my handle is getting stuck now for some reason. So I put a sponge in the way so it can't go down all the way. A question; I stand at 5'7 & weight fluctuate between 190 & 195, for now (I'm working on losing about 25 more pounds). Anyway, question is what Brand/ model of these unicycle would you recommend? I'm a 51 year old vet whose been a workaholic for years, I'm trying to get back to enjoying being out & about to relax outside. I bought a ebike & love it (its on a flat now) but think a unicycle will be even more relaxing but I have no idea which one to buy. I don't want to start with a beginners because it's a waste of money (I did that with the ebike & within 2 or 3 days I wished I had bought a more powerful one for greater range & ended up paying a few hundred more to modify it from 350w to 1000w which unfortunately drain the factory battery quicker so now I have to spend more money to upgrade that). So I'm looking for unicycle kinda in the middle, not a cheap beginner one that'll I be trying to upgrade within a week or 2 but certainly not one of those $3000+ ones (I don't have that kind of leisure money laying around just to be trying something I may or may not like).

@@mr_wrongway I'm already waiting for my S22, after 4 years I think it's time to upgrade 😬 But I wanted to keep the V8 as a second wheel for friends and small routes, I didn't knew that I just need to balance them. Thanks

Impressive intro Adam! How do you think this compares to v10?
@heymelon2 жыл бұрын
V10 has more range speed and stability and you really feel grounded and more safe to push the wheel. V8 is more nimble and easier to make react and make slow speed tight turns.
@MADpack2 жыл бұрын
Is just a question of battery because I prefer weak wheel for small rides. So between v10 and v8s I will take the v8s because of its light weight. Because in speed we have only 5kph of difference. You can unlock 5kph extra on darknessbot

Yeah, I would appreciate a tail light more than the flying saucer leds. Having a speaker just for it to scream at you to slow down instead of playing music is moronic.

What I can say is that I'm opposite of impressed because V8 battery had silicone inside battery department. Also BMS had a black motherboard and better soldiers

@konardkonrado77552 жыл бұрын
@JM Coulon i saw begote master review with suspension and tester said its anoher dimension when it comes to cruising but after that he tried e20s and said its even beter for cruising so it seems it becomes common knowledge that e20s its best at the moment for that kind of customer;p i dont need power an climb 30 degrees hills i just need steady cruise speed with comfort on looong trips

LED and music....such dumb thing sorry to say that...side leds aren't even visible if you put there some pads...it has only 1 practical function, put them on constant red and use it like that at night rides....thats it...music? Why? I personally hate when others arent respect my private space and starts some music next to me especially if I dont like the genre...Overall I think its a nice cruising wheel, I think after an Airwheel X8 I will buy a V8.

It's such a shame that Inmotion don't fix the small issues with this wheel. The pedals, both front and tail lights, the speaker pointing backwards, absence of USB port... Ah, this could be the perfect commuter with such a small effort from the manufacturer.

@capitoneo3 ай бұрын
@@razorsharp9850 so what? The problem with speaker is that people in front don't hear me. EUCs are way too quiet. Beside that, I use BlueTooth speaker that holds on my neck to get range/speed/battery updates. I can wear it with any helmet.
@razorsharp98503 ай бұрын
@@capitoneo you’re right. I misunderstood, speaker pointed backwards is not logical. What don’t you like about the pedals? The V8S pedals are better than the V8 normal ones right?
@capitoneo3 ай бұрын
@@razorsharp9850 Yes, but those are still have same issues with slightly longer lifespan. AFAIK V13 have proper pedals out of the box.

@@mr_wrongway That would be so fitting for this channel as I'm sure most of us started with a hoverboard as our first self balancing device! 😆 Maybe you can answer the age old question why aren't hoverboards faster? My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid kzbin.infoUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.
