Very good video. I loved it. You forgot to list "International Superstar Soccer 64" or ISS 64 in the video :-) that was my favorite soccer game. My friends loved to play it together with me. It was released in 1997 too and I think it pretty much advanced in terms of gameplay and graphics back then.

It's interesting to see this. 1997 is the year that my interest in new games sharply dropped. This list had around 3-4 games I played (and still play.) The earlier years I found myself realizing I've played more than half the entries.

I didn't see any PC combat flight sims here just arcadish ones on consoles. Some PC ones in 1997 were Jane's Fighter Anthology and Longbow Gold,Longbow 2 , EF2000 V 2.0 that supported 3Dfx graphic accelerator cards and DID's F22 ADF which also supported 3Dfx cards. Hind by Digital Integration although released in the U.K. in 1996 was released in the US by iMagic in 1997 and had a 90% PC Gamer rating.Also Comanche 3 and Gold ,iF-16,iF-22,Jetfighter 3,Red Baron II,Sabre Ace,Joint Strike Fighter,Air Warrior II,F/A 18 Hornet 3.0 For non combat there was Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 and Flight Unlimited 2

No Tomb Raider? This game was huge, for action, adventure that had a lead female character. It was game of the year for so many sites or magazines... Wow.

+oasisbeyond 1996 is when Tomb Raider was released though later in 1996. It did look a lot better with higher resolution in 1997 on the PC with a patch for 3Dfx cards and even in much higher resolution than that if you had a Power card and a very high end PC to run it on which the Power VR cards needed.

Hi. I know the release date is not so clear. In "MOBYGAMES" is written 31 dec 1996. On the wiki page is written: "In 2016, David Brevik stated that a dispute existed as to whether Diablo had been released in 1996 or 1997. In 1997 and 2000, Blizzard reported Diablo's release date as January 1997, and issued a press release on January 3 to announce the game's availability in stores. At the time, CNET Gamecenter reported that Diablo's wide release occurred on January 6. Conversely, Brevik argued in 2016 that the game was available in certain western U.S. retailers by December 31, 1996." So, at last, I chose 1997. Probably the wrong choice, whatever...
