Hello there! I just discovered your channel. Great job on analyzing all these cartoons. One of my friends once told me that, in his opinion at least, the cartoon Meatballs & Spaghetti from the early 1980s was also a late addition to the emulators of Scooby-Doo. Meatballs & Spaghetti were a husband-and-wife team (matching their names, a big rotund long-haired guy and his hot blond thin wife) who were in a touring rock band with a dog playing the drums. The dog acted as the comic relief character in most episodes. Their vehicle was a mobile home, or RV, as they say, in which they travelled from town to town. The show was in re-runs several times in the 1990s and into the '00s in my area. It used the rock band trope and had a music video once per episode much like Jem had later.

Love these videos, what a trip down memory lane. Being from the UK we didn’t get every cartoon you list here. I was aware of Josie but don’t recall it airing here, not during the 80’s anyway. I certainly remember Fangface, Goober and Captain Caveman. Others which kinda clone Scooby but I suspect are 80’s rather than 70’s are Fonz and the happy days gang, Pole Position, Plastic Man, Hong Kong Phooey, Inspector Gadget, Denver the last dinosaur, Gem and the holograms, Godzilla, Sport Billy

Thank you so much for watching and enjoying. I'm still finding my place here, but glad you shared. The FONZ and those TV Based Cartoons I have done in another video, so please watch. I remember a few years ago when there was a movie about how Daphne and Velma met before meeting Scooby and the others. A movie I'd love to see is how the Teen Angels Brenda, Dee Dee, and Taffy met before they found Capt Caveman.

Just watched the video, and I enjoyed it. Clue Club has really grown on me over the years...mainly because Woofer and Wimper were the comic relief, and I kinda sorta maybe had a bit of a thing for Dottie. Dottie is my absolute favorite in Clue Club because she's sassy and spunky, but the only thing they really did wrong in the show is have the older kids act as jerks to Dottie, but its understandable, because in that line of work, you make enemies, so that was their way of protecting Dottie.
@GENXPERIENCE9 ай бұрын
lol. Adorable, and I'm glad it grew on you. I could see CC in live action.
@mikeburnette21909 ай бұрын
Indeed. Most guys would probably go for Pepper, but she doesn't stand out like Dottie. CC in Live Action would be interesting...especially if they get Dottie's voice actor Tara Talboy involved, since David Joliffe(Larry) and Patricia Stitch(Pepper are older now. The only thing I'd really change is instead of Larry, Pepper, and D. D. act like jerks to Dottie is have them have a more heart to heart on why they don't want her on the field with them, because that actually could have backfired on them in a few ways.@@GENXPERIENCE

Never heard of Clue Club, Shmoo, Fang Face or the one with Goober, but I lived in a small market area. The rest I would occasionally watch with Jaber Jaws and Captain Caveman being my favorites (though Josey and the Pussycats piqued my interest as I approached puberty), after Scooy Doo of course. Scooby Doo was my jam! Still is, have a small Scooby stuffed animal, a Mystery Machine tin and a Scooby pillow (which my cats have appropriated) out here in my man cave.

Jabberjaw was my favorite, but you left out Inch High Private Eye (though not sure the sidekicks were teens so maybe that's why), though Clue Club and Speed Buggy hold special places in my heart due to USA doing reruns of them on their Cartoon Express which is how I saw a lot of these cartoons for the first time. Captain Caveman was also a fav though I never cared for the Teen Angels as much, and while I became aware of Funky Phantom, Goober, and Josie later they never really captured my heart the same way (though Fangface came close). I was not aware of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids. That one never aired (to my knowledge) on USA's Cartoon Express or anywhere on cable at the time. (Maybe due to some licensing issues) as I recall all the others (except maybe Fangface, I think I just saw it syndicated somewhere) on Cartoon Express at one point or another. I was also unaware Shmoo had his own show, I didn't see him until The Flinstones meet the Shmoo where I remember Fred and Barney as cops, where Fred Flintstone had his much toned down more kid friendly 80s personality.
