I certainly wasn't rich when I started to fly. I worked at a grocery store and paid for my own flying lessons and got my private pilots certificate when I was in high school. I received my jet training courtesy of the United States Air Force (in exchange for a commitment of time and a willingness to defend our country) and it was an experience I would do again.

Some 757's have the Rolls Royce RB 211 engines. Do you like them?
@jackjessup-Pilot Жыл бұрын
The RB 211 is one of the most dependable jet engines ever made. All the 757s I flew from 1989 to 2019 had RB 211s. Nothing like driving a couple Rolls Royces every day you go to work.

They are great airplanes, but to answer your question, probably not. The good news for you is that you may get to fly the new 737s, the 787 and the 777. They are all really good planes and will be around for a long time.

Have you ever flown with a different airline? My dads cousin is a copilot for Spirit.

I was one of the original plots for America West Airlines and actually flew the first revenue flight for AWA on 1 August 1983. In 2005, we merged with U S Airways and in 2013 we merged with American. I started with the smallest airline in 1983 and retired from the largest airline in the world. Quite a ride!

Do pilots who fly the 757 also fly the 767, or do they just stick to the 757?

Since I have been retired for almost 5 years, I don't even try to keep up with the current SOPs. That's one of the nice things about being retired. You get to live your life. I was a check airman on the 757 and 767 for American and that was our procedure in 2018. By the way, American retired the 757/767 fleet several years ago and I would bet they don't update those manuals. I can not address what the SOPs are for their 737, 777, 787, and Airbus fleets.
