Super thorough review of the gear . When my Klim Badlands runs it's course I'm definitely going to give the MSR Explorer gear a shot.

Looks like something I will check out but I am very happy with the vents on my Klim Bad Lands jacket and pants... Yes I paid a lot... but it keeps me cool up to about 85... after that I go to the mesh... Great review as always... Keep up the great work !!!

Nicely done gentlemen, I’ve had the jacket for a little over a year and really like it. I’m thinking about picking up the pants but I’m on the fence as I have a pair of Klim jeans that I really like and I don’t want to shelf those.

Great review man. If you ever had the chance to try the klim overshell system I know people would love to see a review on that their isn't much out there.

I have the same MSR gear. Ridden it in torrential downpours, hail, just above freezing, and have remained warm and dry. Only complaint is I wish the arms were just tad longer. I’m 6 foot and wear large. Overall, excellent and recommend.

Excellent, been hesitant to spend the money on the Carlsbad because of the heat here in Fl as it would most likely only get worn while touring. The price point on the MSR gear is doable. The bladder pocket has really got me interested for the UTBDR trip. I will probably be sporting at least the jacket in September. Great review!

I don’t know how you handle ATGATT in FL. I had a difficult time wearing it when I came down last Winter.
@ron5184 Жыл бұрын
@@jeman022004 I'm definitely not an ATGATT rider when just riding around home. But when I hit the road I am. Ya just got to suck it up.

Nice review. All the reviews I've seen on this product has been favorable. Kudos to MSR for helping out the wallets of riders! Klim is the pinnacle of gear. I won't take my Latitude stuff off road any more as I bought if for touring and cleaning it is a bit of a pain. May have to jump into some MSR gear for future adventure/travel! Brian makes a really good model. Side hustle opportunity!

Great review. I’ve had my set for one season , and I love them .. my critiques of the jacket are: water bladder holder is pretty useless as it pulls the jacket back, (maybe if you have 1 liter or less it would be ok).. on my xl, the neck opening is a bit too big I think . I wish the front lower pockets had a zipper, but in reality, the Velcro is dang good and prob don’t need it. People complain about the elbow pinching but it doesn’t bother me personally .. the vents on these things is phenomenal, I would ride up to 80 ish in these .. have mesh for warmer tho, those are more my water proof setup .. as of sept 23 these are harder to find, I don’t thing MSR made enough for the demand , very glad I picked mine up when I did . So hope they start stocking these again. Best.

Just saw your Great review! I’m about the same size as you 5’11” 200# 32” inseam and was planning on buying the Carlsbad setup, but it cuts me at the armpits, just a little too tight with a large and XL too bulky. Since you had the large Carlsbad and Xplorer I would really appreciate your take on how the jackets compare in relation to fit in the chest and armpit areas! Keep the great vids coming! I’m riding the ‘22 KTM 890R too Thanks for the help
@2WR Жыл бұрын
So we're a little different in size, I'm only 5'10" and fluctuate in weight fro 175-180lbs. While we both share a 32" inseam (for reference) my chest measurement is 42.5" while my waist is 31". I find both (in large) fit me fine in the chest/armpit area. My issue with the Carlsbad is it's so boxy/wide below the chest area while the MSR allows me to cinch things in. If you are between sizes and ride in the cold at all, I would size up to allow room for extra layers. My most recent trip got quite cold. I had room to wear mutiple layers under my MSR gear.

i'd like an adv pant with a little extra venting at the lower legs, other than that its a great value for high quality stuff. And yes, Klim pricing is getting stratospheric, my Kodiak jacket/pants were almost 500$ cheaper than the current generation, would definitely look at alternatives if i was shopping again.
@2WR Жыл бұрын
My guess is there aren't many companies putting ventilation in the lower leg because enduro boots are so tall they've have basically no impact on cooling. Like I commented on someone else's I was surprised how much Klim prices have gone up since I bought mine.

Good review. For me 5 month ago. How’s the MSR gear holding up? Thanks.
@2WR Жыл бұрын
Was actually considering doing an update video on the MSR gear after all the hell I’ve put it thru on the ADV rides and this most recent trip. It’s been great!
@onemileattatime2642 Жыл бұрын
As an adventure rider, how would you say the ventilation is...at moderate highway speeds to slower adventure riding iver more technical terrain. This is quite a subjective question, sure. I am looking at new/upgraded gear trying to deside at what point a full mesh type gear is needed over something like this MSR especially with this gear being Waterproof; and mesh gear would require another separate layer
@2WR Жыл бұрын
I don’t care what gear it is, it always vents better at higher speeds. I was just out riding gravel and dirt today and its low 80s. Never got sweaty. When it gets really hot, I go to my Moto gear and even it only flows so well.
@jeman022004 Жыл бұрын
Great review. I went down on gravel with my Klim Carlsbad and they held up well. I don’t wish that on anyone, but we have no way of knowing how they hold up unless standardized testing comes out. As consumers all we see is material is made of “cordera/Kevlar” etc. I want to see a video of someone sliding across gravel. Did we just give Brian a promotion to Test Dummy?
@TheBoyers Жыл бұрын
We have Pete for test dummy on crashes and I'd hate to ever take his job since he's so good at it lol

I’m hard to fit at 6’5” 230 i lbs, motorcycle jacket sizes are wildly inconsistent, so I have to try them on first. Seems this jacket looks tight across the chest and generous across the gut, which is a turnoff. No excuse for not trying them on since I live 20 min from the Rocky Mountain ATV place in Utah, so I’m gonna do that tomorrow.
@2WR Жыл бұрын
I have a 42.5" chest and 31" waist so most jackets will look that way on me. Agreed best thing do to is try them on for size.
