Very interesting test but its kind of odd that almost every other test or review I have seen of the Klim Krios Pro says its very loud to the point some ppl say dont buy just because of the noise level. And I have a Schuberth E1 and I think it is the hottest stuffiest most poorly ventilated helmet I have ever had. I guess there could be a lot of factors in play like windshield etc

Yeah...pretty much EVERY reviewer agrees with you. As much as they wanted to make this objective, It's ONE rider with a particular size head on a specific bike, all factors which will change the outcome. For me, the Arai has ALWAYS been the best overall, and the AGV AX-9 is one of the most comfortable things I ever put on my head, while I have an Icon Variant which is too tight on the temples and tears my ears off every time I have to take it off.

i would add the nexx xwed2 over the icon! More versatile! The variant is a street hooligan looking helmet with a peak
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we don't currently stock Nexx helmets so we haven't been able to take the X.WED2 out on the road. However, the specs of the helmet do show a lot more versatility in its construction, which would likely stand up well to the Variant Pro. Thanks for he comment! Besides the Icon, what are your thoughts on the helmets we tested out?
@juanfelipearango20293 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets i think that out of the tested helmets, the krios is the worthiest of them all due to weight and surprisingly as your data suggests, noise isolation. I didn´t expect it would perform that well in npise isolation as no other review highlights it for this helmet. Either way, being so light makes me want to buy one. i currently own a nexx xwed2 and is amazing (specially because i got it on discount) but when my personal cashflow improves im definitely getting the krios pro
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
@@juanfelipearango2029 We were also very surprised at the results of the Klim helmet, but this was what we recorded while out on the road. I'm stuck between the Shoei Hornet ADV and the Arai Tour X4, do you have any recommendations?
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Looking at the road test performance, we would stick with the Arai. Not only did the helmet offer much more ventilation, but it also brings a great level of advanced features that help it stand out from the crowd. Thanks for the question!
@KennyOOOO3 жыл бұрын
well said!! As the two main modular adventure helmets, how does the E1 compare to the Scorpion ADX-1?
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Besides differences in quality that arrive from their price, the two helmets perform fairly similarly. Though the E1 was lighter and more comfortable, both helmets were the same temperature as the outside and they came in at about the same noise level (101dB for the E1 and 102 for the ADX-1). Thanks for the question!

Really good review. Which helmet would fit goggles best? I’m very attached to my Oakleys.
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
The Arai and the Shoei helmets offer the largest visor aperture, so they will fit a large range of goggles best. The Hornet ADV even comes with the handy feature of allowing you to wear goggles without having to remove the visor. Thanks for the question!

Thanks for the review, I really enjoyed watching it! You got me thinking, where does the Variant Pro sit on the on / off road spectrum? 🤔
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Compared to its competitors, the Variant Pro definitely sits more on the on road side of the spectrum. The peak does not offer as much off road adjustability or functionality as the other helmets here, nor does the Variant Pro offer the versatility of riding without a peak. Thanks for the question!

How well do these helmets do for rotational impact protection
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Though most of the helmets here use standard multi-density EPS liners, the Klim and Bell adventure helmets will offer the best reduction of rotational impact forces. The Krios Pro uses Koroyd, which allows for improved impact protection in multiple directions while the Bell MX-9 ADV uses MIPS, which is an additional slip plane that lets the helmet rotate slightly in an impact. Thanks for the question!
@scottenlow52492 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets How do you quantify the ability of a helmet to resist rotation in a crash? These companies claim that these systems fight rotational forces in a controlled testing environment, but which one really fights rotation when the paint meets the pavement?
@ssa12633 жыл бұрын
Great review, how does the koroyd work in the Klim helmet?
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Koroyd couples a special material with a unique honeycomb shape to ensure better protection at different speeds and at different angles. The open structure of Koroyd also helps the helmet cut down on weight while improving on ventilation. Thanks for the question!

Given how quiet it was, would the Krios Pro be good for touring without the peak?
@cesaranastacio42863 жыл бұрын
On the t7 you don’t feel any diference with or without peak, the wind sound is the same. Above 120km the peak don’t bend your head. Have a good aerodynamic
@mike.thomas3 жыл бұрын
I found with the stock windscreen on my 2017 R1200GS Adventure that the Krios is very quiet, and quite unobtrusive even with the peak in place. However, with my small windscreen (Puig “Racer”), I *had* to take the peak off due to buffeting, noise, and the “sail effect”. With the peak off, the fasteners for the visor sit up a bit off the helmet’s surface and hurt the quietness a bit, but it’s still a pretty quiet helmet IMO. I *always* use ear protection, unless riding for a short time in an urban setting, or just going to a lot to practice maneuvers. The Transitions visor is a huge win. Coudln’t live without one now that I’ve had one.

There's something that confuses me, the colour of the helmets are not the same in the standing line up and in some of the on-road shots, which I think is relevant specially in the temperature readings, since a white helmet is cooler than a black/dark helmet.
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. It is an often mentioned remark, the color of the helmet, but our experience is that this doesnt affect the inside temperature in any way. The ventilation is so much determined by the ventilation system that we never were able to capture a temperature difference in color. But we hear this comment very often, so it is not far fetched at all.

Thank you for the review really nice. Would the Badlands Pro or the Carlsbad be better for pairing with the Klim helmet?
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
The answer would mainly depend on what level of adventure riding you're planning on. The Badlands Pro is much more heavy duty for long rides off road while the Carlsbad is going to be a lighter option that offers a bit more on road comfort. Thanks for the question!

Cool vid! Btw is there a significant difference between the Schuberth E1 and the C4 Pro for on road riding?

Based on our road test results, we've found a fairly large difference between the two helmets while riding on the road. The C4 Pro was quieter, better ventilated, and more comfortable while out on the road. Though this is helped by its full touring focus. it shows you put a lot of work into this, but your scoring and graphics are very confusing. Instead of showing you on camera. May I suggest building a full screen data blank spreadsheet type graphic showing all the categories you will cover in relation to the helmets. Then revile the content into the categories as you talk. The key here is to not cut away from this as you continue the comparisons. This way the viewers don't lose track of the past, present and future information. I lost interest at 6:00

For me, value for money is an important factor. Ordering the helmets based on their value for money score (Euros/star), here’s what the list looks like: 1. Icon Variant Pro 2. Airoh Commander 3. Shoei Hornet Adv 4. Arai Tour X4 5. Klim Krios Pro 6. Schuberth E1 7. AGV AX9 Although, these rankings would change depending on what country you’re in. In Australia, the Hornet is not cheaper than the Arai, so the Arai would likely be better value for money.

I like the build quality of a shoei. Usually top notch. But for vent reault on this model its a big NO. Halo shoei. Please upgrade hornet adv vent system.
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
When we took the Hornet ADV out on the road, we also found that it didn't offer very strong ventilation, which proves to be the helmet's main weakness. Though it performs very well in almost all other aspects, it was the ventilation that ended up pulling its score down. Thanks for the comment! Besides airflow, how have you found the Hornet ADV?
@andhikawayan3 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets beside the superb build quality in my opinion with other shoei line up my prefer feature compare to another adv style helmet is having the easiest visor replace mechanism. So im hoping so much that shoei will upgrade the vent. To me arai tour cross it too good and then somehow to me bit bored and dated.
@Championhelmets3 жыл бұрын
@@andhikawayan Though the ventilation left a lot to be desired, the visor system of the Hornet was very well designed by Shoei. As far as the Arai, it is one of the older entries in our lineup, though it still brings an excellent level of features and performance for riding on and off road. I'll take the airoh commander carbon for 350.00 dollars You are nit picking the differences in the helmets . If you are stupid pay the 6 and 7 hundred price tag . If you are smart get the 350.00 helmet . The Large commander carbon is 1440 not 1492 which should have made it the 2nd lightest helmet for half the price . Weight of the helmet which they got wrong after a few miles on the trails really makes a difference . With a dual sport rider most riders are going to be off road as much as on which is not tested at all . The commander is the only one you can wear goggles with . The commander is a dual sport helmet and the best one of the group for riding in the dirt trails .

I heard that Klim helmets are not built well and are literally falling apart.
@mike.thomas3 жыл бұрын
I have a Krios. Falling apart? Hmmm. I would say the face shield and peak fixing mechanism is not super confidence-inspiring (though I’ve had no problems thus far). I’ve also heard the shield detents can wear down so the shield won’t stay locked in position. I have not had the issue (yet) 🤞. The rest of the helmet is very well put together and it is indeed light and quiet, and the viewport is huge with a very optically clear and correct design (to my eye).
