It was given to me on Saturday by my partner. I find it fantastic. I have a 15.4 cm wrist, so perfect. When I discovered that it has a sapphire crystal I couldn't believe it. I have much more expensive watches, but this little Timex cuts a fine figure

I have the 41mm pictured at 3:37 and can confirm it’s a Citizen/Hamilton killer. If you find it on sale like I did, it’s the best sub $100 field watch you could possibly get. You’d have to go north of $200, even $300, to begin to find a field watch that can match its specs (solar, sapphire, screw down crown). And that’s nothing to say of fit, finish, and feel, which are excellent. Kudos, Timex!

I have the 41mm version, the dial is really easy on the eyes. It's also a strap monster, beige looks great on it.

Own it and love it, best watch I've owned. I've put an old seiko silver bracelet on mine and it looks sweet.

Just got the 36mm with textured black dial and it is GREAT! My first real watch and daily driver now for two weeks. Couldn't have been happier with my purchase. Going to buy some new straps so i can wear it a little more dressy because i don't want to wear another watch right now haha.

Timex rocks with this one. Hamilton inspired on design but North is practical for a day user and for any outdoor activity. I like this size and looks great on your wrist. It’s an everyday watch and small meaning comfortable and expensive. Because your video I pulled the trigger on mine! Thanks man!!! You got a new subscriber.

I have this. It’s great. One thing is I wish the numbers were a brighter white instead of gray. The larger version you showed with red pips and dark brown leather strap that has nice bright white numbers. And I have a 7.5 in wrist and I think it’s fine size wise. Also if I hit it with a light blast just before I go to bed I can still tell the time in a dark place at 6 am. So the lume is weak but functional. I took the tactical black version of this watch on a four night backpacking trip and the lume worked fine for me.

That’s great to know about the lume thank you!

I got my son (15yrs old) the same watch last Christmas, but in the 41 mm with gunmetal case, black face and gunmetal indices. Legibility is mediocre, but the look is awesome! It came with a nato-style strap, but we changed it out for a rubber strap from Baltic that I had laying around. I agree the lume is mediocre, but it’s better than many watches I have, being longer lasting. As a bonus the date window matches the face so the date number really stands out. The only major problem for me is that the second hand doesn’t line up with the markers, but it doesn’t seem to bother my son. I totally recommend it. By the way, great review!

Very cool colorway- I need to get my hands on a 41mm for review, I’ve only seen them in passing. Thanks for watching!

I've been collecting field watches lately including a Hamilton, Bulova, Elgin A-11, Waltham A-17, Benrus, Bucherer, Baltany, Citizen and Seikos. But the field watch that gets most wrist time is a $45 Militado ML07 smooth sweep quartz with a Strapsco vintage leather strap. ;)

As a solar watch, it should have included a lighting system since you don't have to worry about battery life. They could have included a special mechanism for pressing the screw down crown to activate it, without compromising the water resistance, and it wouldn't have been very difficult either. For the price they could have also included a much better hand and dial design, with more intricate detail, even if still simplistic. Personally I don't like that the sapphire is raised, because that just guarantees chips in the edges. The whole point of a metal case is to protect the glass, why expose it? Even if it's sapphire, being recessed would ensure that very few accidents could cause scratches, and that you could even slide the thing on its face and still not worry about scratching the glass. If anything it seems like this watch was designed so that you will eventually scratch the glass and want to get a new one. The saddest thing about the watch market is makers are still trying to trickle features to upsell stuff, in this day and age, when watch sales are at an all time low, which only makes them raise their prices more, which makes the market shrink even more. It's time for watch makers to stop playing games with features like it's 1989. Make every watch sapphire. Make every watch solar (unless it's an automatic), give every solar watch an active light, and give every watch at least a 100m rating. Those should all be the bare minimum feature set of modern watches, and for much cheaper than they're trying to charge today. $170 for a quartz Timex? Insanity. Even sapphire doesn't justify it, because sapphire is cheap these days. There is nothing expensive about modern watch manufacturing, nothing at all. Everything is easy now. Precision machining and manufacturing is simple now. Even when you adjust for inflation, a Timex is over 4-5 times the cost today than it was 30 years ago, with nothing really worthwhile to show for it. And keep in mind, while these are solar, they actually have a shorter shelf life than battery operated watches, because they do have a small battery in them that can wear down in several years. Then you need a new battery, which is more complicated than a CRXXXX battery. Granted, I don't like having to change batteries, but the point is they're not even designing these solar watches to be powerable for a lifetime, they're even more disposable than non solar watches.

Have you checked out the new Mad Watch Collector’s field watch the MadHacker? Very cool. Just came out today. Worth checking out.

I did! Love the idea with the 3 and 9 numerals. Plus, the actual field he filmed in was beautiful

@@the1010watchclub it’s also cool they removed the auto wind rotor so as to make it thinner, over wind safe and lighter; giving it that classic winding experience.

I bought one here in the UK. I do like the design and am pleased with how it looks, I like the simplicity of the dial yet it is handsome and tough. One thing that bothers me is the second hand movement. The watch I recieved has an irregular movement, that is it moves 1 and a half markers sometimes and then half a marker then sometimes it hits the markers. It still keeps good time but I'm worried that there is an issue with the second hand, someone on a forum said it may be loose. Anyway, I have contacted the retailer, I may get a replacement. Looking at yours it seems to hit the markers pretty well. Would you say it does hit the markers and is this consistant?
@the1010watchclub2 ай бұрын
I would say mine hits the majority of the markers with a pretty consistent movement. Unfortunately even some high-end quartz watches don’t always hit the markers

I'm debating between this watch and vaer c3 korean war watch, which watch do you recommend? The vaer watch is double priced
@the1010watchclub6 ай бұрын
I’m a big fan of Vaer. A few things to keep in mind would be that some 36mm Vaer models actually measure 35mm, but the straps are more comfortable than Timex. Also the lug widths may be different, so a lot depends on preference

Someone told me the coating/finish on Timex watches wears off within a year 😭
@mikeg82762 ай бұрын
Not true of their plated brass cases, which is what they’re referring to, but this model’s case is bead blasted stainless steel. There’s no coating to wear off.
