If not mistaken Focusing aim assist impact is seen when you have two enemies next to each other, focusing will lock to your first target rather than fight in between the two targets.

According to Activision: Precision tightens the area for aiming slowdown, but makes that slowdown more powerful, while Focusing gives a stronger aim slowdown when your aim would normally miss the target by a narrow margin.

Kinda surprised that you didn't test, or even mention, the issue where aim assist actually causes your reticle to be pushed AWAY from the enemy in some cases. I most often notice it if I'm aiming somewhere and then an enemy runs through my line of sight... the reticle will actually get pushed along IN FRONT of the enemy, instead of actually snapping onto them. It's a bug/issue that has annoyed me for years.

I was just think about that today for some reason while sniping. I’m a pretty competent sniper on both standard and precision but with precision I can hit some pretty dirty drags. The only problem is that I can’t use any other gun because I’m so hyper aggressive and I didn’t realize how much aim assist rotation actually helps. So having standard on reg guns and precision on snipers would be very helpful. But also everyone would use it. It almost makes me wish we didn’t have the option sometimes.

Aim assist has gotten me killed more often than not. When I see a target and sweep towards it, I'm expecting it to go at X rate. When it suddenly goes to X-50% rate, I start firing and stop moving the crosshair too early and completely miss, which more often than not, results in them shooting me dead first. The lack of strafe tracking has probably contributed to more deaths in my moving encounters, but I just can't get past the high number of times I know I've died because I stopped my aim early due to the aim assist slowdown. Maybe I'll try Precision to see if it helps me stay on target after I initially acquire it.

@@svensvensson86 I think I ended up with Focusing, just in case it has some magnetism with full auto fire that Ace might not have been able to really test. I wouldn't mind getting some rotation assist, but there's no way I can deal with Standard's wide slowdown bubble. Focusing is definitely better than none (or Standard). I'd imagine Precision is probably pretty similar, but after I was getting better results with Focusing, I didn't bother trying any more testing.

Could you re-check "focus" after firing a few rounds that nearly miss your target? That's when focus kicks in right? I'm guessing that the aim assist bubble will grow as you continue to miss.

Aim curve should always be set on linear(the other options won't let you build muscle memory so you'll never learn to get naturally better with aiming), sensitivity usually at 8, but that is something that is different for each person, I personally use kontrolfreeks on my right stick so I can use a higher sensitivity and have more precision. If you use a lot of dmr's and sniper rifles you should use precision or focused, for anything else you should go for standard aim assist.

I use precision as I'm running around and I've gotten used to accounting for my own rotation, I hate aim assist going to moving targets in my aim rather than the one I shoot at, plus the random movement if someone jumps past me, it throws me off. That's why I switched to precision, to be more in control of my camera

I think the difference between focusing and precision is that focusing moves your reticle slower when aiming at an enemy. Meaning when you have someone in your sights, it is easier to really hone in on head + chest shots

From what I observed (when the screen wasn’t blacked out 🧐) focusing seems to focus on where ever you are actually aiming, even if it’s not on targeted objects and does NOT glue you to that point/spot. VS precision that keeps you trained more on where you aimed your weapon even if you are moving... just a thought, if I’m wrong that may at least help rule that out.

What people probably don't realize is that standard aim assist is meant for TV's and precision is meant for monitors. Reason the slowdown is bigger on standard is that if you have input lag, you're likely to overshoot the target while snapping on. This is also true for rotational assist. It's meant to help you moving in the right direction to compensate for input lag on TV's. I started using precision because I find it easier when you have situations with multiple enemies on screen, and also situations where you are just a hair off.

Used a controller on my PC the other day. I get that you’re protecting the controller player here- but let me be the first to tell you that this shit is WAY over tuned and absolutely helps you steer on to target. When testing focusing, I'd try a follow-up shot to a near miss. It's supposed to kick in when narrowly missing a target. Guessing only matters when missing or significant missing occurs. (For new players who need help) Also, aim assist rotation has annoyed me in past cods when engaging multiple targets. One might be closer to center screen, but I want to take the other first.

Standard makes me miss all of my shots, right next to the target, because of the slow down. i am changing to focusing after I see this video. Also there is another form of aim assist. When you ADS and an enemy run in front of you your aiming automatically follow for a little bit. It's a little bit of annoying when you aim with sniper, makes me miss some shots

Shotguns are actually pretty accurate at a distance. Have you ever seen skeet shooting? Shotguns are also used for hunting birds and deer. Not like you can get all that close, so you've got to be able to hit it from a good distance.

I've only used the first shotgun (pump action) thus far, and the range isn't even close to SMG range. The 3rd shotgun (double barrel) has the longest range of the shotguns, and highest damage, but it only holds 2 rounds. From what I've seen, shotguns are only viable on a few maps, or in specific areas/modes. I didn’t know what the difference was but I started with precision. I turned aim assist off and I miss way less now because aim assist would slow down on the “bubble” and not the enemy.

me too but I like quickscoping and the aim slowdown is a pretty small problem for those quick adjustments when tracking

Their should be no aim assist on any game. I never use it it throws me off. Socom ranked mode had aim assist disabled. You get better weapon uniqueness if they disable it.

So am I the only one, who completely deactivated the Aim Assist? That snapping thing on enemies only happened in Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4, when you was aiming on an enemy and another one jumps in and runs to the other side of the screen what makes your sight pulling away from your intended target. I don't know anymore if it was the Targeting-Assist or the Aim-Assist, but that's the reason why I completely deactivated Aim-Assist in MW this time on PS4. It's absolutely annoying, when you're aiming at a target and another enemy kicks off your aiming... And to be honest: It feels WAY better without Aim Assist, when you get a kill, but is also as much as frustrating, if you don't get it.

compared to some other CoD games, I kinda have the feeling it is harder to spot enemies. Rooms are kind of dark and the lightray effects outside make things super blurry. Been having a hard time myself seeing enemies if they are not in plain sight

For focusing aim assist, have u tried reverse aim assist. As in when you flinch does aim assist put u back on target? Destiny has something similar.

And this is why as a PC player I have turned off crossplay. Games have improved so much for me, PC vs PC. There seems to be allot less latency and lag issues compared to having crossplay on.
