It was great to see someone reacting to artwork! Some truly beautiful work I didn't know existed. Makes me want to listen to the albums

A great idea, Nathan. Artwork is important, especially on vinyl albums. Some good choices from you.

The Kyros cover is the clear standout for me this year. A well composed bit of gentle surrealism. Also has the benefit of being obviously created by an actual artist. Really stands out against the morass of "detailed" but soulless AI art that's plaguing new releases. Even when they're chosen well (as is the case with Plantoid's debut, for example), it's speaks to a level of disinterest in the finished product that I find offputting. I have a feeling a lot of these AI covers will age like milk.

PS - Sorry for being a grump, Nathan. This is a good concept for a video and I appreciate you taking the time to do it!

You make some fair points! I'm not enough of an expert to completely recognize when it is AI art, but I know it is being used frequently nowadays and agree with your sentiments!

@@NathanOnShuffle I don't claim to be an expert, but anything with a digital painted look that's big on detail but short on originality is immediately suspect. I think that's why examples like the Kyros and Greep covers stand out here - no algorithm's coming up with something as intentional and focused as those pieces. I should say as well, I definitely don't blame artists for being tempted to use these tools, especially when they are new on the scene and/or independent. I'm sure it's a significant cost saving.
