Watched McGregor vs Mayweather last night using my setup and it was an incredible experience. *UPDATE* when connecting virgin media to this projector via HDMI you will find that half channels have no sound & nearly all SKY channels on virgin have no sound, its because the projector does not have the ability to decode Dolby digital so the work around is to go onto the settings option in the virgin media interface and change the audio setting from Dolby to Dolby via pcm. This enables the sound on ALL channels so your projector works no problems when virgin media is connected. Same work around for watching movies from USB / PC .... You have to reencode some videos from .mkv to .mp4 with the sound being AAC not AC because it won't play. Hope all this helps somebody.

This a 720p projector but if you want true 1080p the XIGMI Z6 Polar and the JMGO N7L are very good but a bit pricey. I owned both and they are the very best.

Does anybody else have an issue with this projector where if you project at an angle, but then adjust the keystone, either the top or bottom of the image will be blurry? +Joselyn Ramos Simply put mate the pjd5155 if your willing to spend that extra 100 if I'm thinking of the correct viewsonic projector it's around $300 mark it has a much higher contrast ratio 20000.1 The gp90 is also a rock solid choice, I've just had in another 720p native projector which I've been comparing against the gp90 and honestly its looking better, great for gaming as there is little to no input lag.... video on the way soon.

If the native resolution is 1280 x 800, there is no 1080p playback. On a very large screen, you will see a difference between this unit and a true 1080p projector. Disappointed that all these cheap projectors are fraudulently claiming 1080p.

HI there, bought one of these on back of your review and seems good. but volume not loud enough - can I connect my bose sound dock to the projector while it is connected to PC via HDMI cable and get the sound boosted? or would I need to connect the Bose directly to the PC. Just a not very techy individual so any advice helpful. Also notice that projected image from PC doesnt fill the full projected area (size of home screen projection for example. +Lucie Jude Hi if your playing content from you pc through the projector and want better sound ie want to use your sound dock, me personally I would like to place the sound dock close to where I'm sitting, to do this you would need a wireless audio transmitter ( watch this video.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ap2woaGZpteHidk) , hdmi connection from pc to projector then place your audio source wherever you want if I'm not mistaken there should be an audio in at the back of your bose sound dock plug in the wireless transmitter to the audio in and your done no wire's and flexibility to place the dock wherever you want. And yes you can also just plug in the dock into your pc and go into audio source and set it as default device, so sound comes through the Bose and not through the projector. As for the scaling issue in the settings menu on the projector theres an option to zoom in to enlarge the image to make it fit better, you also have the option to align the image afterwards have a mess about, theres a factory restore option so don't worry. Hope that helps. ☺

+Phill Hudson Hay pal will drop you a private email later on its abit of a long explanation, quickly no built in WiFi to stream from a mobile or tablet you need a £10 mirrorcast/airplay dongle. Audio from the 3.5mm port works fine no lag. I've never used a grey/slv screen only matt white with black edge gives, for me better contrast and makes the image less flat

+All things WDW Your not wrong there even at 300 selection is still small unless your going down the ebay road. Most of the native 1080p ones at least in the uk are still around 500, pjd7720 or the optima hd142x are both a solid choice, if you look on ebay about 300-350. I'm reviewing one at the moment thats full 1080p native but it expensive. I was genuinely impressed by the vs627 but the gp100 is still my favorite.

Hi Tech 404.. Great review and a great projector for the money! I have to agree with heavyset0223 though.. projectors are annoying listed across the market according to processing resolution. It's a bit of an industry scam to honest with Standard Definition equipment being marketed as High Definition. If a projector only spits out 320p pixels the input may as well be 8K as 1080p who gives a crap!! In fact, I _expect_ input resolution to be 1080p in 2017.. that is basic functionality why are they even touting the input resolution!? Well it's obviously to catch people out, so they buy an SD projector thinking it's HD.. and I've seen cases of that happening and buyer remorse. So yeah this is 1200 x 800... it's an 800p projector.. simple as that! You might do a video on downscaling, when and why it matters, show some real world examples, measured technical differences, this sort of thing? Also I'd say it's very possible to get a 1080p project for a lot less than £500 used, especially one that's been marketed for business or educational use as they go cheaper. Obviously pitfalls to buying such a thing used, a video on the topic would probably be of great interest for those looking to buy a projector! ;)

That said there are alot of people who are on a very small budget & are very happy with the 480p upscale. It comes down to people's expectations vs reality alot of the time. Second hand projector buying guide is definitely on my list and should be hitting the channel in the next few weeks.

The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

I bought this projector based on this review. I can focus the center but the corners are blurred. This is really annoying. Also, I can't seem to turn off the built in speaker and use just the audio out. I would say these are the two major flaws.

Hello,friend, If the image was very blurry, there are five ways to solve it for you: (1).You have to turn the lens until the image will be clear. (2).You will check the distance between projector and wall, suggest best image size 72-120 inches from 2.5-3.6m. (3).Maybe it is your movie resolution problem,you had better choose 720P or 1080P video. (4).This projector will work better in a dimmer environment. (5).If you adjust the keystone you will need to refocus lens. How bad are the darks in this? I bought the a box t22 and the dark parts in movies were basically black. Unwatchable .

+timothy790110 Between the abox and gp90 the blacks and colour output are world's apart. Pretty much everything hence the price difference. The gp90 being able to display 720 vertical lines makes it a native HD projector. Honestly its probably the most impressive 720p I've tested so far. Will say the noise output is a little higher than some, but if your using it with an external audio device say a sound bar it's really not noticeable.

False Advertising , gets people to buy these. They boast 1080p when this is not true. When you read the specs it states "The video projector is 1280x768 resolution 720P, it can support 1080P Video" Well guess what even my 20 year old non-flatscreen TV set will support my BLURAY player which plays 1080 HD dvds. But Native WUXGA is Full HD period. This projector is worth about $50 don't pay more than that.

Yes,it's 720p but support 1080p level.If you play a 1080p movie the image will be better. Friend,if you want use this price to buy a real 1080p projector that's impossible.

My advice is only buy a projector that you can return. Most of these videos are sponsored and full of shit. Get at least 3000 lumens (preferably more) and make sure you can replace the bulb and make sure the bulb is affordable.

+Rosalie Marie Hi I'm pretty sure it will not work with a smartphone app remote, I have sadly tried to get it to work with my Logitech harmony one remote and failed. Did you use the link in the video discription as the version I received had a warranty card with a number on it.
