i don't have too much blurring on the side with ulanzi pro mounted on iphone 6s and this 3rd generation nailed it when it comes to distortion

I love the price of the Ulanzi...but the lens flares are over the top...undecided...might start with the Ulanzi just as a price point of entry to try an anamorphic lens. Great video...thanks!

This has probably been already stated; I noticed that the Ulanzi Pro G3 isn’t a true 1.33x lens. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. But when I go into the “Clip Attributes” in Resolve, switch to 1.33, the image looks incorrect. When I choose the 1.25 option, everything looks right. The blur on the sides is what’s making me get rid of the lens. I’m switching to the Moment Anamorphic lens instead. The fact that you have to scale up the image to hide it is annoying. Nice video by the way. I love your channel!

This may be a silly question but I’m going to ask it just the same. I’m using FiLMiC Pro which lets you select an aspect ratio of 2.39:1. If I shoot in this mode, do I get the same results as if shooting with an Anamorphic lens which gives 2.40:1 (other than not being able to use filters)? What am I missing here? Ulanzi 1.33 G3 anamorphic lens seems to be discontinued. Official site only lists 1.55 XT. Is there any information of a coming update?

@Mobile Motion Are there additional apps needed to “de squeeze” or decompress the footage? I know moment has their dedicated app. However what software can be used to decompress the footage using the Ulanzi lens?

hey, so EVERY1 just talks about iPhone and galaxies I am a curent honor 30 user, making vlogs, everybody loves quality, but now i am going to switch to p40pro. not considering either sams or Apple due to price/quality, but there is absolutely no info on those phones... but i am guessing these lenses Will fit.. after all, thickness of cameras and size of lens are identical... any thought on that?

Thank you! You can quite easily shoot without flares. Just don't point the lens at a light source :)

I like the 3rd gen ulanzi look... It's the most cinematic out of the bunch being out of focus and warmer tones without doing anything... Plus it's from a phone... If you're worried that you have to manipulate the footage in post... You're missing the point of these fake anamorphic look... IMO the goal of these filter is to get the anamorphic looking shot at the cheapest price... Nobody gonna use it for professional use anyways... They just wanna get cool shot

I guess, I'm more concerned as to which company makes the sharpest lens, especially on the sides. They all seem to produce the same quality image. I was thinking of getting the Ulanzi 1.55. If we shoot alot in a faster aperature, the background would be blurred anyway, so the sides and edges wouldn't be as much an issue. The video shot here seemed like it was a higher aperature, where most of of everything is in focus, which you would want anyways when shooting landscape.

Moondog is quite a bit sharper especially in the corners. I've seen some comparisons and its objectively the best lens. Less distortion, sharper across the board, and least distortion. They even make one now that has a bayonette thread for moment cases. It's kinda game over now haha

It's a top off of getting the Moondog with the bayonet mount so I can use it with a Moment case or just get the Moment case and the Moment lens. I like those guys at Moment too. Hoping they will make an Anamorphic for the Mavic Air 2.

Is it possible to use the Moonlabs Anamorphic lens on an iPhone without a case? I use my iphone without the case on my gimble because it doesn’t fit with the case on and because of the weight as well.

for the older iPhones they can clip directly onto the phone (up to iPhone 8+). Otherwise you can use a 37mm clip or 17mm clip. In the video I use a 37mm clip with the Moondog Labs

For the sake of consistency, do it all throughout. Stabilisers help a lot as any flare on the foreground can be quite distracting. Unless you are doing something like a NOLANesque anamorphic-imax shift. That'd be fun to watch if you can pull it off.

its part of the flare - basically a reflection of the sun in the glass of the lenses (the anamorphic and the inbuilt lens)

the Ulanzi 3rd Gen has the 52mm adapter ring which comes with it. I think Moment and Moondog Labs have their own solutions as well, if you are ok to pay for the extras

Try a different lens on your phone. Filmic Pro clearly states that with Android 11 certain cameras aren't supported. More to do with the manufacturer than the app.

@@sanarko weird. I found this on the app description of Filmic pro in the play store. "* IMPORTANT UPDATE: With Android 11, some devices may loose access to Tele or Ultra Wide cameras. Android 11 blocks access to cameras that manufacturers didn't properly identify as available for 3rd party applications. This is a manufacturer issue, we will add the cameras back as soon they publish them properly." Since the anamorphic workson your iPhone, seems like the issue is with Android based phones.

Anyone using pixel 7 or 7 pro using any of these? Have been searching answers without success. I asked that because I got a sirui previously which I had to return it due to "double" image it produces. The salesman at the camera shop told me a couple of pixel 7 users had previously returned it too and he said it's due to pixel handling of their OIS which causes the double image. I wasn't convinced. I felt it was the faulty lens. I prefer to get an answer from an actual user. If anyone can provide some assistance, it would be great.

Amazed at how awful the Ulanzi is. The Moondogs is too subtle. Moment, a good balance between the two. Moment also has a gold flare anamorphic that I like just as much as the blue one.

M8, you have no idea what anamorphics are used for. Flare is garbage shit tier level understanding. Barrel and roll, corner vignette, and fore ground distortion (aka Anamorphmumps) are the problems with anamorphics. And you have shown NONE of those instances of which lens is more suitable.

lens flare we can easily put using video copilot optical flares. but time is more important cause if you want to take amazing Sun rise or Sun set then if those flares on lens ruining mood then not make sense. Overall Moondog Labs is damn settle compare to others
